A composition comprising approximately by weight 6 to 50% of a mixture of two different anionic surfactants, one of said anionic surfactants being a sulphonate and the other said anionic surfactant being a sulphate, a ratio of said sulphonate to said sulphate being 10:1 to 1:10; 0 to 6% of a nonionic surfactant; 1 to 20% of at least one of a water insoluble organic compound; 0 to 8% of a solubilizing agent; 0 to 14% of a cosurfactant; and the balance being water, wherein the composition has a pH of about 1 to about 11 and is optically clear having at least 90% light transmission and the interfacial tension between the lipophile droplets of said composition and the aqueous phase less than about 10.sup.-2 mN/m.

Stable microemulsion cleaning composition

The present invention relates to an aqueous gelled cleaning composition which is useful for the removal of grease or tar without any mechanical action. In particular, the instant compositions are derived from three liquid phases which merge together at the tricritical point to form one continuum forming the gelled aqueous cleaning composition, wherein the three phases incorporate at least a polar solvent, a non-polar solvent or weakly polar solvent and a water soluble or water low molecular weight water dispersible amphiphile and the composition contains a noncrosslinked polymer.

Gelled near tricritical point compositions

An acidic thickened microemulsion composition which is sprayable as well as being shear thinning and readily clings to vertical walls is effective in removing soap scum. The acidic microemulsion composition comprises specific amounts of anionic surfactant, nonionic surfactant, an acid mixture of succinic acid, glutaric acid and adipic acid, and a xanthan gum thickener having a molecular weight of about 1,000,000 to 10,000,000.

A non-bleaching fine fabric detergent composition comprises a detersively effective amount of a mixture of anionic and nonionic surfactants, a detergent building effective amount of at least one builder salt, and a softening and whitening effective amount of a sugar ester containing at least one fatty acid chain. In a preferred embodiment, the composition is in the form of an aqueous liquid composition.

A heavy duty detergent composition having incorporated therein an acetylated sugar ether which provides bleach activation, detergency boosting and fabric softening properties to the detergent composition. The acetylated sugar ether contains at least two long chain alkyl groups. The acetylated sugar ether acts as a bleach activator by reacting with a bleaching agent, such as sodium perborate monohydrate, to generate peracetic acid. Following perhydrolysis, the compound acts as a detergency booster. The presence of a least two long chain alkyl groups induces absorption onto the fibers and a softening effect is obtained.
