A method and instrument for tensioning a flexible tie used for fastening an implant on a bony element by forming a first loop around it. In some embodiments, the instrument comprises a shaft having a distal end configured for contact with a rod, a moving part slidably engaged with the shaft, a holder connected to the moving part and configured to hold an end of the flexible tie, and a tension control member comprising a trigger that pivots relative to the moving part. In some embodiments, the method comprises coupling the end of the flexible tie to the instrument and squeezing the trigger to shorten the first loop of the flexible tie around the bony element, causing the moving part and the holder holding the end of the flexible tie to move in translation away from the distal end of the shaft, thereby exerting tension on the flexible tie.

The present invention concerns an intersomatic implant () comprising a body () suitable for being inserted between two vertebrae () to space them a predetermined distance apart, the body () being provided on either side, respectively, with a contact surface (') with the corresponding vertebrae (). The body () is formed from an oblong part of predetermined thickness provided at a first so-called proximal end with a gripping cam () mounted movable in rotation relative to the part about an axis perpendicular to the two surfaces (&#x2032;), between two predetermined angular positions. A vertebral attachment system and method for retaining a spinal vertebra () on a rod () employ a device () including a body () for attachment to the rod, a flexible strip () for linking the vertebra to the attachment body and a means () for adjustably locking the flexible strip on the attachment body. The attachment body () is made of a single part having a U-shaped cross-section, for passing the rod between the bottom wall () of the U and the adjustable locking means. The adjustable locking means () consists of a linking part () connecting the opposite ends of the two arms () of the U, arranged such as to compress the rod against the wall. The arms () each include a recess () opposite thereof, located on the bottom side of the U, for passing the two ends of the strip between the bottom and the rod in order to form a loop for attachment to a vertebra.

Vertebral attachment methods

A vertebral fixation device and corresponding method of fixation hold a spinal vertebra on a rod. The device has a fixation element including a component of substantially U-shaped cross section with a first branch, a bottom and a second branch. A loop is formed by a flexible band for connecting the vertebra to the component, and which passes through recesses provided in the branches. Adjustable means for immobilizing the flexible band are provided. Those means include a connector screw having a head for longitudinal immobilization of the screw with respect to the first branch a thread for screwing in the second branch. A removable sleeve for passage of the screw, insertable in the first branch, in longitudinal abutment with the head of the screw is provided and presents a chamfered part designed to cooperate with the rod to compress the band between the rod and the bottom of the component.

The present invention relates to a vertebral fixation device () for holding a vertebra (V) on a rod (), having a body () of U-shaped or substantially U-shaped cross section, a flexible band (') for connecting said vertebra to the fixation body which is provided with slits () for passage of the band and of means (M) for adjustably blocking the flexible band against the rod in the fixation body. The flexible hand (&#x2032;) comprises a loop (&#x2032;) closed on itself and provided with a flexible lamella (&#x2032;) which is able to form a guide for passage around the vertebra and into the fixation body.

Vertebral fixation device

A device () is provided for tensioning a flexible band () used to maintain a bone element on an implant. The device includes a rod () having a first end () provided with means () for bearing on the implant, a movable part () for hooking the flexible band onto a portion () of the device, and means () for adjustably locking the movable part in translation in relation to the portion of the device. The rod () includes a gripping handle () at the second end () thereof. The aforementioned portion of the device forms an angle &#x3b1; with the rod () to which it is rigidly connected at an intermediary point, the direction of the band being altered at an angle, and the aforementioned adjustable locking means () includes manual screwing means () for actuating the movable part.

An intervertebral implant comprising an intervertebral spacer and two fastener ties is disclosed. The intervertebral spacer may be formed having a body extending in a longitudinal direction. The intervertebral spacer may further include a first insertion face, a second face, and two recesses disposed at the ends of the body. The recesses may each be defined by a first extension, a second extension, and an end wall. Each of the two fastener ties may be secured to the first extension at a first end and a second end may be fastenable to the second face. The ties may pass around a spinous process in part and hold the spinous process within a recess. The first extension of the body may have a height relative to the bottom wall of the recess that is no greater than the height of the second extension.

The invention relates to an intervertebral implant comprising a spacer designed to be applied between two spinous processes of two vertebrae. The invention provides an intervertebral implant for the lumbo-sacral joint, the implant consisting in a spacer suitable for being placed between the fifth lumbar vertebra and the sacral vertebra articulated thereto, the body of said spacer presenting in its top face a groove extending in the midplane of the spacer and suitable for receiving the spinous process of said lumbar vertebra. A longitudinal housing oriented orthogonally to said groove is formed in the bottom face and is suitable for receiving the top portion of the sacral vertebra. The longitudinal housing is defined by an extension and by a tab of width narrower than the width of the body of the spacer. The section of the housing in the midplane of the space is generally U-shaped, being inclined relative to the bottom of the groove.
