Measuring apparatus for measuring the quantity of calibration fluid delivered by engine-fuel injection apparatus, in which calibration fluid is passed into a hollow cylinder on one side of a piston to displace the latter in one direction along the cylinder and pressurized gas is passed into the cylinder on the other side of the piston to displace it in the other direction and so drain calibration fluid from the cylinder.

Fuel quantity measuring apparatus

A cam box assembly, especially for use with machines for testing fuel injection pumps, comprising a cam shaft in the assembly, drive transmission elements connected to the drive shaft, a first rotatable shaft having a drive connection with the transmission elements, a second rotatable shaft also having a drive connection with the transmission elements, a first flywheel mounted on the first shaft, a second flywheel mounted on the second shaft, the two shafts being co-axial with each other and being driven in opposite directions by the drive transmission elements whereby the flywheels likewise rotate in opposite directions, the flywheels being of identical mass.

A precision positive displacement flowmeter for providing an accurate measurement of fluid flow at one end of a fluid circuit, comprising a cylinder and piston arrangement constructed to receive and emit circuit fluid continually, and an indicator arranged to give an indication of such flow by monitoring piston movement.

Precision flowmeter

Metering apparatus for measuring the quantity of fuel oil delivered by engine fuel-injection means when being tested on a test bench or other testing machine embodying or connected to the said metering apparatus, comprising transparent or part-transparent graduates having plungers or pistons within them which, in use of the apparatus, are displaced in one direction by fuel oil delivered from the injection equipment under test to the graduates, and in the other direction by fuel oil (or other liquid, if desired) delivered from a test bench or other source of supply, the plungers or pistons being readily visible so as to give a direct and accurate reading of the quantity of fuel oil delivered to each graduate.

Fuel injection metering system

A fuel delivery meter for measuring and indicating the quantity of fuel delivered by engine fuel injection means 'on test' comprising a chamber for receiving the fuel, a spring-loaded piston or plunger within the chamber which is displaced as fuel enters the chamber, indicating means which are actuated by displacement of the piston or plunger to give a reading which corresponds to the amount of fuel which has entered the chamber, and fuel flow means for passing fuel into the chamber on the other side of the piston or plunger so as to warm the meter.

Apparatus for testing fuel injectors having their own in-built high pressure pump, the said apparatus comprising means for locating and clamping an injector on the apparatus, and a composite fuel system for supplying fuel to the injector and to different parts of the apparatus, the said fuel system including at least one valve having at least one weight acting on it to produce fuel at a pressure determined by that weight.

Fuel injector testing apparatus

Apparatus for testing fuel injectors having their own in-built high pressure pump, the said apparatus comprising: removable motion-transmitting means adapted to engage and actuate the high pressure pump of an injector to be tested on the apparatus, driving means comprising a cam-shaft and a motor driving said cam-shaft for imparting motion to said motion-transmitting means, a fuel-collecting nose assembly to receive the nozzle end of an injector to be tested, and an hydraulic clamp for engaging and thus clamping the nozzle end of the injector into the said fuel-collecting nose assembly, the said motion-transmitting means serving also as a positioning means for positioning an injector when the latter is fitted on the apparatus for testing.

Apparatus for testing fuel injectors having their own in-built high pressure pump, the apparatus comprising means for axially locating and clamping an injector to be tested on the apparatus, a fuel arm assembly for supplying fuel to an inlet on the injector, and means for mounting the said fuel arm assembly for swinging movement into and out of a fuel-supplying position, the said fuel arm assembly including a valve adapted to make sealing contact with the injector outlet and a spring for urging the said valve into a closed position, the valve being pushed into its fuel-supplying position, against the action of the said spring, when the valve makes sealing contact with the injector inlet.
