A distributed speech recognition system includes a speech processor linked to a plurality of speech recognition engines. The speech processor includes an input for receiving speech files from a plurality of users and storage means for storing the received speech files until such a time that they are forwarded to a selected speech recognition engine for processing. The speech processor further includes a dispatch system linked to the storage means for controlling the transmission of speech files to the plurality of speech recognition engines in a controlled manner.

Distributed speech recognition system

A distributed speech recognition system provides for the convenient and expedited insertion of a new speech recognition engine. The system includes a central speech processor linked to at least one speech recognition engine. The at least one speech recognition engine includes means for addressing the central speech processor upon installation within the system. The means for addressing transmits to the central speech processor a message indicating its operating protocol and location to permit the central speech processor to identify and begin transmitting work thereto.

Dynamic insertion of a speech recognition engine within a distributed speech recognition system

A software system provides an interface between a radiology information system and a central dictation system. The software includes first and second application modules which are both in communication with a database management system. Other components of the software system include protocol DLL's (dynamic linked libraries) and a communication DLL. Each of the software components maintains a separate trace buffer. An event occurring in any one of the components triggers a dump of all of the trace buffers. A server socket object is maintained in existence and placed in an accept mode when a client socket terminates communication with the server socket object.

A performance gauge for use in conjunction with a transcription system including a speech processor linked to at least one speech recognition engine and at least one transcriptionist. The speech processor includes an input for receiving speech files and storage means for storing the received speech files until such a time that they are forwarded to a selected speech recognition engine or transcriptionist for processing. The system includes a transcriptionist text file database in which manually transcribed transcriptionist text files are stored, each stored transcriptionist text file including time stamped data indicative of position within an original speech file. The system further includes a recognition engine text file database in which recognition engine text files transcribed via the at least one speech recognition engine are stored, each stored recognition engine text file including time stamped data indicative of position within an original speech file. The system further includes a comparator comparing the time stamped recognition engine text files with time stamped transcriptionist text files based upon the same speech file so as to determine differences between the recognition engine text file and the transcriptionist text file and a report generator compiling the identified differences so as to issue a report for evaluation by administrators of the transcription system.

Performance gauge for a distributed speech recognition system

A central dictation system includes a central server computer and a plurality of voice input stations connected to the server computer. Speaker-dependent speech recognition capabilities are provided at each voice input station, and any authorized user may use any station. When a user logs on to one of the stations, acoustic reference files to be used in recognizing the speech of the user are downloaded from the server to the station onto which the user has logged on. The down-loaded acoustic reference files are used to perform the speech recognition at the voice input station. A high bandwidth signal generated at the voice input station and used for speech recognition processing is transcoded at the input station to form a low bandwidth speech signal. The low bandwidth speech signal and the text document resulting from the speech recognition process are uploaded to the server computer.

Distributed speech recognition system with multi-user input stations

This invention relates to a communication system and method wherein messages are transmitted and stored in voice mail boxes. The system and method provide the ability on the part of an author to recover a message before access to the message by a recipient. This allows the author to recoup a message in case the message is sent accidentally to the wrong recipient or the message has been sent to a recipient who no longer has access to the message.

Voice message recovery system and method

Apparatus for use in a dictation system of the type having a central voice message store for receiving and storing messages dictated by an author and for selectively playing back stored messages for transcription. The apparatus functions to transmit to particular recipients certain ones of the stored voice messages which are identified as priority messages. These priority messages are supplied to desired voice mailboxes which are used to temporarily store and transmit voice mail messages to designated recipients.
