An antibacterial composition comprising thymol and totarol. This combination provides synergistic effect against gram negative and gram positive bacteria.

A cleansing bar comprising at least one member chosen from clay and talc, wherein a total amount of clay and talc is present in an amount that is greater than any other material in the cleansing bar, at least one cleanser chosen from soap and surfactant, and a binder present in an amount to structure the cleansing bar into a bar.

A composition comprising a solubilized magnolol analog comprising at least one magnolol analog chosen from propyl magnolol, isopropyl magnolol, butyl magnolol, and isobutyl magnolol and a sorbitan ester. These solubilized analogs are useful in personal care, oral care, and home care compositions to provide anti-bacterial activity and reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators. If isopropyl is selected, then the sorbitan ester is at least one of polyoxyethylene 20 sorbitan monooleate, and a proviso that if isobutyl magnolol is selected, then the sorbitan ester is poloxyethylene 20 sorbitan monooleate.

Solubilized magnolol analogs

A composition comprising a solubilized magnolol analog comprising at least one magnolol analog chosen from propyl magnolol, isopropyl magnolol, butyl magnolol, and isobutyl magnolol, and PPG-1-PEG-9 lauryl glycol ether. These solubilized analogs are useful in personal care, oral care, and home care compositions to provide anti-bacterial activity and reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators.

A cleansing composition comprising a cleansing effective amount of surfactant and polyurethane-34. The polyurethane-34 can deposit on skin during cleansing and form a barrier that reduces bacterial attachment to skin.

A non-clear (translucent to opaque) cleansing bar comprising: (a) from about 3 to about 40 weight % anionic soap; (b) from about 4 to about 40 weight % of at least one synthetic surfactant; (c) from 0.1 to about 10 weight % of a gelling agent from the group consisting of dibenzylidene sorbitol, dibenzylidene xylitol, dibenzylidene ribitol, and mixtures thereof; (d) from about 5 to about 60 weight % of a humectant provided that glycerin is a component of the humectant and is present in an amount of about 2 to about 10 weight %; and (e) water; wherein all amounts are in % by weight based on the weight of the entire composition.
