A caliper guide assembly for a heavy vehicle disc brake. The caliper guide assembly may include a wear sensor arranged to detect the position of a guide pin in relation to a guide bore. The guide pin and a guide surface may have different cross sectional profiles to define at least one void therebetween. The wear sensor may be at least partially accommodated within the void.

Caliper guide assembly

An adjuster mechanism for a disc brake. The adjuster mechanism may include an outer piston and an inner piston. The outer piston may define a bore having a female thread, a non-threaded region, and a transition region. The non-threaded region may have a greater diameter than a minor diameter of the female thread. The minor diameter of the female thread in the transition region may progressively increase until it meets a major diameter of the female thread.

Adjuster mechanism

A disc brake having an actuation mechanism, a wear adjustment mechanism that includes a manual rewind apparatus having a manual adjuster shaft; a brake caliper having a housing cavity and an inboard wall, an inboard support interface, and an outboard support interface. The inboard support interface is located within the housing cavity, outboard of the inboard wall.

Disc brake

A force transmission device, tappet, and method of manufacture. The tappet may include a shaft portion for transmission of a thrust loading from an actuating member to a piston of a disc brake and a gear portion for transmission of rotary motion to the shaft. The gear portion may be formed as a separate piece from the shaft portion.

Force transmission device, tappet, and method of manufacture

A disc brake having a caliper, a piston, an operating shaft, a wear adjustment mechanism, and a transmission path. The caliper may straddle a rotor and may retain first and second brake pads. The piston may be slidable within the caliper. The operating shaft may apply an actuating force to advance the piston when the operating shaft is actuated. The transmission path of the wear adjustment mechanism may include a one-way clutch.

A disc brake having a caliper, a housing bore, a guide insert, and a piston. The housing bore extends inboard from an outboard face of a housing portion of the caliper. The guide insert may have an inner guide bore and may be mounted within the housing bore. The piston may be slideable within the inner guide bore relative to the guide insert so as to urge a brake pad towards a rotor.

A disc brake and a brake pad assembly. The brake pad assembly may have a brake pad and a retainer clip. The brake pad may have a volume of friction material that may include a friction face, a support face, first and second circumferential end faces. The retainer clip may be arranged to engage a bearing surface of the brake pad.

A force transmission device for a disc brake operable to move a friction element of the brake into engagement with a rotary brake disc along a first axis in response to a loading from an actuating member, the device comprising: a guide member having a generally cylindrical guide form; a piston comprising a complementary generally cylindrical outer sliding surface slideable within the guide member, wherein; an anti-rotation formation is provided between the guide member and the piston, the formation comprising a recess extending generally parallel to the first axis and a complementary projection.

Force transmission device

A brake having an adjustable tappet for applying a brake force to a brake pad, a tappet having a rotating part in threaded engagement with a non-rotating part, the rotating part including a tappet gear, an adjuster mechanism for selectable rotating the tappet gear, the adjuster mechanism having a clutch with a driving clutch plate in frictional engagement with a driven clutch plate, the driven clutch plate having external teeth in direct meshing engagement with the tappet gear.

Brake

The present invention provides a disc brake caliper. The disc brake caliper has a housing and a piston for moving a friction element into contact with a rotor. A yoke is provided for at least partially guiding the piston, and the yoke is positioned within the housing and moveable relative to the housing. A guide member along which the yoke is slideable is provided, and the guide member is a component separate to the yoke and the housing, and is mounted to the housing.

Disc brake caliper

A brake adjuster mechanism including an input shaft, a one-way clutch, and a torque limiting clutch. The input shaft is coupled to an input element of the torque limiting clutch. The one-way clutch is coupled to the torque limiting clutch. The torque limiting clutch further includes an output element and a coupling portion, with the coupling portion including a projection for selectively rotationally coupling the input element and the output element. One of the input element and output element includes a first recess circumferentially spaced from a second recess. The projection is selectively biased into the first recess and the second recess. The input element is frictionally coupled by a friction device to the output element to resist rotation of the input element relative to the output element.
