A light shield includes a main portion and an overlap portion that is substantially perpendicular to the main portion. The main portion includes a first scored area and a base platform disposed below the first scored area. The first scored area includes a plurality of score lines that define one or more detachable panels. The overlap portion includes a second scored area and another base platform. The second scored area includes another plurality of score lines that define one or more detachable overlap panels. Further, the light shield includes a flange that extends substantially perpendicular to and along a length of a base platform of the light shield's main portion. A first interlocking arm extends from a first end of the flange and a second interlocking arm extends from a second end of the flange that is opposite to the first end.

Present embodiments provide a light fixture having rotatable light modules and an extendable hinged mounting assembly. The light modules are electrically coupled to the light fixture via a cord and a grommet/bracket feature which provides strain relief and a waterproof barrier. The extendable hinged mounting assembly allows the light fixture to be mounted onto a ceiling or other structure while providing a mounted position and an install position.

Systems, methods, and devices for reducing glare or pixilation associated with LEDs are disclosed. The disclosure relates to a light module that includes a cover panel that reduces contrast in the light emitted by LEDs. The cover panel can be mounted on a substrate which can include a plurality of LEDs. Apertures in the cover panel are aligned with each of the LEDs and any optic that may be disposed over each LED. A first portion of the light emitted from the LEDs passes through the optic only and into the environment to be illuminated. A second portion of the light emitted from the LEDs passes through both the optic and the cover panel before passing into the environment to be illuminated. The cover panel can be diffuse and can include various characteristics including textures, objects, and angled surfaces that assist in scattering light.

A system can combine edgelit signage and edgelit illumination. The system can comprise two edgelit lightguide sections, one supporting signage and another supporting illumination. The lightguide section that supports signage can comprise a backlit face inscribed with text or graphics conveying an emergency message. The lightguide section that supports illumination can comprise a face patterned with features that release light, for example for emergency illumination. The two lightguide sections can be two areas of a single edgelit lightguide. The two lightguide sections can alternatively formed from two separate lightguides. In some examples, one or more illumination lightguide sections can be configured as a trim plate.

A luminaire can comprise two different types of light emitting diodes ('LEDs'), for example a chip-on-board light emitting diode ('LED') and at least one discrete light emitting diode. The luminaire can have a normal mode of operation that utilizes utility power and an emergency mode of operation that utilizes battery power. The luminaire may transition from normal to emergency mode upon loss of the utility power. During normal operation, the luminaire can operate the chip-on-board light emitting diode using utility power. During emergency operation, the luminaire can operate the discrete light emitting diode using battery power, without operating the chip-on-board light emitting diode.

A dual-reflector assembly includes an upper reflector and a lower reflector. The upper reflector includes a proximal end and a distal end. The lower reflector includes a proximal end and a distal end. A light source is positioned between the proximal ends of the upper reflector and the lower reflector. The upper reflector surrounds at least a portion of the lower reflector. The shape and orientation of the dual-reflector assembly can be formed by placing a cup reflector having an upper edge profile and a lower edge profile a predetermined distance away from a rotational axis and at a desired orientation, rotating the cup reflector around the rotational axis, obtaining the shape and orientation of the upper reflector and the lower reflector from the rotating upper edge profile and the rotating lower edge profile, respectively.

A light module includes one or more LEDs coupled to a circuit board, a lens disposed over at least one LED, and an adhesive layer disposed between each LED and the lens. A flange extends from at least one side of the lens. The adhesive layer fixes the lens in an optical alignment over the corresponding LED. The adhesive layer includes at least one of a non-permeable layer with an adhesive material on the top and bottom surfaces, a gas-permeable layer with an adhesive material on the top and bottom surfaces, a deposited material, and an over mold material. An alignment tool including one or more optical recesses and one or more alignment features is used in the assembly of at least one of an optical assembly and a light module that includes the optical assembly. The alignment tool facilitates precise alignment of the lenses over the LEDs.

Systems, methods, and devices for sealing LED light sources in a light module

A HID luminaire includes a HID lamp, a reflector, and a lens. The reflector has a proximal end, a distal area, and an intermediate are positioned therebetween. The reflector has an interior surface that includes a first portion that extends from the proximal end to the intermediate area and a second portion that extends from the intermediate area to the distal end. The second portion is less light reflective than the first portion. The lens has two different diffusion rates and includes a center portion having a lens inner diameter and an outer portion surrounding the center portion. The lens inner diameter is about the same diameter as the diameter of the intermediate area. The outer portion is more diffuse than the center portion but allows light to be transmitted therethrough.
