Systems and methods for storing information

Embodiments relate to multi-contact sensor devices and operating methods thereof that can reduce or eliminate offset error. In embodiments, sensor devices can comprise three or more contacts, and multiple such sensor devices can be combined. The sensor devices can comprise Hall sensor devices, such as vertical Hall devices, or other sensor types in embodiments. Operating modes can be implemented for the multi-contact sensor devices which offer significant modifications of and improvements over conventional spinning current principles, including reduced residual offset.

Embodiments relate to predictive output switching threshold determination systems and methods for sensors, for example magnetic field sensors. In embodiments, at least one individual switching threshold is determined predictively, rather than reactively, for each tooth or pole of a ferromagnetic tooth or pole wheel, respectively. For example, in one embodiment, the number of teeth or poles is programmed, and an optimal threshold for each tooth or pole is determined during a rotation of the wheel. The determined optimal threshold for each tooth is then used for that tooth in at least one subsequent rotation of the wheel, with calibration optionally taking place in future subsequent rotations. Thus, in embodiments, thresholds are predictive for each individual tooth or pole rather than reactive to an adjacent tooth or pole.

Output switching systems and methods for magnetic field sensors

Embodiments relate to reliably storing information in a sensor or other device. In an embodiment, information storage circuitry comprises independent, redundant memory portions and error detection circuitry. The circuit can operate in cooperation with a memory writing procedure that utilizes a validity bit and sequentially writes to one or the other of the redundant memory portions such that at least one of the memory portions has data that is valid and can be recognized as such.

A circuit including Hall plates and an amplifier. The Hall plates are configured to provide Hall voltages in a homogenous magnetic field such that a first Hall plate has a first positive voltage and a first negative voltage and a second Hall plate has a second positive voltage and a second negative voltage. The amplifier is configured to receive the Hall voltages and provide a first output voltage that corresponds to the first positive voltage and the second positive voltage and a second output voltage that corresponds to the first negative voltage and the second negative voltage.
