A housing structure is provided for supporting vertically stacked horizontally extending arrays of forwardly removable disk drives in a very compact arrangement. The housing has spaced apart vertical walls with opposite side surface grooves having laterally projecting elastomeric bumper members therein. Pairs of front and rear disk drives are joined with elongated support plates disposed on their opposite sides and having spaced apart sloping side edge portions. The support plates are slidingly received in the wall grooves and wedgingly engage the resilient bumpers in a manner restraining movement of the inserted disk drives along three mutually perpendicular axes. Latch structures lock the inserted drives in the housing and releasably maintain resilient insertion forces on the tandem drive assemblies. A fan system draws cooling air through vertical gaps between the drives, and operational drive heat is conducted via the support plates into the vertical housing walls.

Disk drive support system

The present invention provides a system for locating lost golf balls which includes a golf ball that incorporates an array of passive transponders and a radio frequency (&ldquo;RF&rdquo;) transmitter/receiver capable of energizing the passive transponder array and of detecting a signal emitted by the array. Each passive transponder functions as a tuned LC circuit that is charged by the RF transponder/receiver and emits an RF signal, detectable by the RF transmitter/receiver, for a finite period of time after the RF transmitter/receiver is turned off.

A dockable equipment container includes an outer shell of a durable material and an inner metallic container. The inner container is suspended within the outer shell by blocks of energy absorbent material, such as SORBATHANE. The dockable equipment container further includes a connector at one end, which is covered by a protective door. When mated with external equipment, the protective door is moved to an open position by an alignment device, such as alignment pins, pressing against an end of the protective door. The alignment pins mate with corresponding alignment holes for ensuring that the connector properly mates with a corresponding connector in the external equipment. The dockable equipment container may contain various electronic equipment, which communicates with the external equipment through the connector. The electronic equipment may include disk drives, which are protected from the environment and from shock by the construction of the dockable equipment container.
