A system for raising and lowering equipment and including a fixed support arm for attachment to an elevated support structure, a movable carriage for carrying the equipment, a cable extending between the fixed support arm and the movable carriage, and a winch for spooling and unspooling the cable to raise and lower the movable carriage relative to the fixed support arm. A locking mechanism secures the carriage in its raised position, and alignment guides position the carriage to make electrical connections as the carriage is engaged onto the support arm.

Elevated support system

A support pole for raising and lowering a supported object between a lower position and an elevated position is disclosed. The support pole includes an elongate pole and a carriage mounted for translational movement up and down the pole. Carriage locks at the top of the pole engage the carriage in the elevated position to prevent vibration of the supported object, and a stabilizer frame within the channel minimizes vibration during carriage transport. One or more electrical conductors are fixed in place, extending through at least a portion of the pole, terminating in an electrical contact for releasable engagement with a cooperating electrical contact mounted to the carriage as the carriage is raised into the elevated position.

Elevated support pole with automatic electrical connection and disconnection

A support pole for raising and lowering a supported object between a lower position and an elevated position is disclosed. The support pole includes an elongate pole having a top, a bottom, and a channel extending at least partly between the top and bottom. A threaded rod is rotationally mounted within the channel, and is connected to a detachable coupling for engaging a drive tool to rotationally drive the threaded rod. A carriage engages the threaded rod, such that rotation of the rod imparts translational movement upon the carriage through the channel. The carriage includes a mounting bracket for attachment of the supported object thereto. A cable connecting the supported object and an external device or power source has a detachable coupling, and is carried along a pulley at the top of the elongate pole when the carriage is raised and lowered. A return spring is connected to one end of the cable to retract the free end of the cable back to the base of the pole when the supported object is raised into the elevated position. Carriage locks at the top of the pole engage the carriage in the elevated position to prevent vibration of the supported object. A stabilizer frame within the channel minimizes vibration of the threaded rod as it is rotationally driven.

Housing for surveillance camera

A housing for a surveillance camera protects the camera from damage from projectiles, including small firearms. The housing is generally spherical for reducing wind resistance, and is ballistically rated. The housing is formed of three layers to achieve the ballistic rating while maintaining low weight. A rubber-containing thermoplastic alloy provides the outer surface, an acrylic is intermediate, and ballistic aluminum is the interior layer. The camera is fully rotatable, and a ballistically rated hemisphere rotates with the camera while a clear window allows the camera to see. An outer cover is made of acrylic which may be tinted to conceal the camera window. A blower is mounted within the housing at the top thereof, and the discharge may heat or cool the camera drive motor and the rollers that mount the rotatable hemisphere. To achieve the ballistic rating economically, the inner layer is formed of aluminum, and the inner layer is used as the mold for vacuum forming the outer, thermoplastic, layers.

Ballistic rated camera housing and method for forming

A pan and tilt mechanism for a surveillance camera that can pan through two full revolutions. A bell crank has one arm in the path of rotation of a pair of switches, and the bell crank can be shifted to extend the opposite arm. Each arm can be shifted by one switch, but will actuate the other switch to reverse the pan motor. The electrical cord for the mechanism and the camera is wound about the axis of rotation so the cord stays neat and undamaged through all rotation of the mechanism.

A security housing having the appearance of a housing containing a surveillance camera, the housing including a dummy camera and a motion detector. The appearance of the housing is changed when motion is detected to give the impression that the apparatus is in fact a surveillance camera. The dome that normally conceals the camera is lighted, and this light is extinguished when motion is detected. A spot light or flood light lights the area in response to detection of motion, and an audible alarm may be sounded.

A weatherproof housing assembly for a surveillance camera. The housing has a cover with a skirt over which rainwater may flow, form pendant drops, and fall, and a camera mount adapted to carry a camera and a camera positioning motor. A dome unidirectionally transparent to light is secured to the cover.
