Display holders and blank sheets for forming them are disclosed. When assembled, the holders have one or more boxes supported by a header piece. A brace member forms both an end flap for one or more of the boxes and provides a rigid brace to support the box(es).

A paperboard carton is disclosed which is constructed from a paperboard blank including a first panel having side walls connected thereto by scored fold lines formed between a respective side wall and a respective edge of the first panel. A second panel is provided having side walls connected thereto by scored fold lines formed between a respective side wall and a respective edge of the second panel with one of the side walls of the first panel and one of the side walls of the second panel being congruent. The second panel further includes an opening device formed therein for allowing access to the interior of a formed carton. This opening device includes a tab extending from an edge of the second panel, at least one through cut segment extending from an edge of the tab into the second panel of the blank and terminating at a termination point, at least one partially cut line of weakness formed in the second panel and at least one perforated line of weakness formed in the second panel and extending substantially parallel to the partially cut line of weakness, with the partially cut line of weakness having a portion which intersects the through cut segment extending from the edge of the tab at the termination point and the perforated line of weakness is colinear with the through cut segment and spaced a predetermined distance from the termination point of the through cut segment.

A carton structure erectable by folding from a substantially flat blank includes two side panels, a bottom panel, two top panels, a center divider panel and two end panels, each extending from the bottom panel. Each end panel has slot means for engaging the center divider panel when the carton is erected. The carton structure further includes four reinforcing areas, each having a first edge connected by a first fold line to an end panel and a second edge connected by a second fold line to one of the side panels.

A foldable, resilient plate lid of paperboard or the like, having a central panel surrounded by four side panels glued together at overlapping end flap portions to form a continuous skirt which, when open, flares obliquely downwardly from the central panel to encompass the rim of a disposable plate. Opposed rim-receiving slots are formed in at least tow of the side panels. Initially, for gluing, the latter two side panels are folded inwardly under the central panel while the other two panels remain unfolded except for their end flaps, so that upon subsequent opening of the skirt to cover a plate, resilient bias forces urge the initially folded side panels into secure engagement with the rim.

A food package assembly is disclosed for use in heating food in a microwave oven having a support surface wherein the assembly includes a packaging such as a paperboard carton having a detachable panel arranged to (1) form an opening for removal of the food contained in the carton and (2) to leave strengthening portion, such as corner webs, for strengthening the remaining side walls when the opened carton is inverted for use as a cooking stand for the removed food. A microwave interactive material may be applied to the inner side of the removable panel so that the removed panel may be placed on top of the inverted carton to brown the food during the cooking step.

A package (10) which is used to prepackage, store, ship and heat food products (11) is suitable for use in a microwave oven. The assembly includes a carton (12), a pair of microwave interactive layers (98) for converting microwave energy to heat and a paperboard spring formed from a blank (84) which includes wing sections (92,94) for resiliently biasing the pair of interactive layers into contact with opposed surfaces of a food product within the package to evenly brown and crisp the product. A microwave shield (22) may be incorporated in the package (20) to prevent microwaves from entering the package sidewalls.

A container including a paperboard carton (4) for heating and crisping two sides of food pieces having non-uniform dimensions in a microwave oven including initial and final vertically spaced food supporting panels (14,30) separated by a vertical distance exceeding the average vertical height of the food pieces. A pair of microwave interactive layers (16,102) are associated with corresponding food supporting panels (14,30) for converting microwave energy into conductive heat for browning and crisping the food pieces. Handles (8) formed in the paperboard container are provided for allowing manual inversion of the container during the crisping and cooking process to cause food pieces initially supported by the initial food supporting panel to move under the force of gravity into supporting relationship with the final food supporting panel.

A collapsible, carrier carton comprises a split cover, overlay closure with self-erecting handles and a side panel/web flange lock. This web lock permits secure locking of the split cover closure into a flattened and closed configuration and secures the removable upper tray(s) in a locked position. The split cover closure includes opposite side member panels having self-erecting, interlocking male and female handles. One of these side member panels is of a greater than the other to permit a split cover closure overlap which prevents contamination of the container interior when the side panels are closed. The split cover closure also includes outwardly and downwardly folding, notched-out web flaps with alignment holes. Each of these web flaps interlocks in a corresponding contour-crease, inwardly biased, side panel, knife-cut web lock. The carrier carton includes removable upper trays with vent holes. Connected to either end of said trays are end walls and foldably connected, triangularly shaped web flanges alignment holes. These removable tray web flanges align with the corresponding split cover closure web flaps for locking engagement in the carrier carton side panel web locks. The carrier carton frame includes inwardly projecting lower flanges which are glued together to form a partial bottom support upon which a removable bottom tray closure is seated.

An improved bacon package is disclosed. The stiffening packaging element, commonly known as a bacon board, has full width top and bottom panels which support the bacon from the bottom and cover it over the entire top. Cover flaps on the ends of the top panel are defined by lines of weak bending resistance, and function to cover the ends of the array of bacon when the packaging element and bacon are enclosed in plastic films in a vacuum packaging operation.

Article carrier

A carrier for one or more stackable articles formed from a paperboard blank of generally rectangular configuration. The blank is folded about a score line intermediate its short ends so that adjacent regions are divergent at an angle. A pair of aligned slots in each adjacent region serve as a hand-hold. The blank further has confronting side panels extending downwardly from the adjacent, divergent regions, and panel portions cut from the side panels are folded toward one another along score lines adjacent free ends of the blank in formation of openings in the side panels, and are fastened to one another in provision of a bottom for the carrier. An article may be carried singly, or several stacked upon one another while supported on the bottom and projecting through, and retained within blank portions that define, the side-panel openings.

Unitary double cavity cartons, for example, of the type commonly referred to as clam shell cartons, are provided in which lines of weakness, adjacent the center hinge and positioned to form a hinge ridge or channel upon closing, permit the carton to open freely without buckling or tearing.

A wristwatch display carton is disclosed which includes a face panel, having a cut-out therein to receive the wristwatch, which is positioned at an inclined angle tilting into the interior of the carton so that wristwatch is partially sheltered by the top and sides of the carton. A pair of infolding flaps attached respectively to the opposed side panels aid in positioning the face panel within the carton. Four different embodiments of blanks from which the carton may be erected are disclosed.
