A cutter head for stalk-like harvested agricultural crop is provided including a number of pivoted knives arranged along side each other. Levers are associated with the knives and can be moved between an operating position in which they retain the knife associated with it in an active position, and a non-operating position in which they are preloaded by springs. A control shaft allows for the selection of the length of cut. An actuator, that is independent of the control shaft can move between a first position, in which all levers are brought into the non-operating position and a second position, in which the levers can reach the operating position and the control shaft retains the levers of the knives not selected in each case in the non-operating position.

A binding device for use on a cylindrical baling press that includes two binder dispensing mechanisms guided in a frame and which move transverse to a baling chamber of the baling press. Each binder dispensing mechanism further includes a binder advancing device having a drive wheel in rolling engagement with a drive mechanism configured to cause the drive wheel to rotate. The drive mechanism of the binder advancing mechanism is configured separately from a drive device of the binder dispensing mechanisms. Binding material is dispensed by the movement of the binder dispensing mechanisms and/or the movement of the drive device.

Binding device

A twine dispensing arm of a wrapping arrangement for a large round baler is provided with a dispensing end defined by a component which, at the time when twine wrapped about a bale is separated from a length of twine carried by the arm, prevents a length of recoiling twine from becoming entangled or incorrectly oriented for a subsequent wrapping cycle.

A binding arrangement and a process for the control of a binding arrangement is described that includes a binding material delivery arrangement, a cutting arrangement and a braking arrangement for the binding material, where the brake can be controlled and generates a variable braking force. To improve the binding process for harvested crop, brakes for the binding material are applied with which a binding material tension is generated or is increased to cause the binding material to be retarded during the binding process in opposition to the flow of the binding material. The brakes are controlled such that only a low binding material tension is caused at the beginning of the binding process to increase the tension to as large a value as possible during the continuing binding process and to reduce the tension upstream of the cutting arrangement again at the end of the binding process. This control is done through a control arrangement, as a function of the binding material delivery conditions, and performs at least two changes in braking force within one binding cycle.

A baler pick-up includes a pair of support wheels, each of which is connected to the pick-up by a mounting arrangement permitting the wheel to be selectively moved from a working position outboard of the pick-up to an inboard, elevated transport or non-working position. Each mounting arrangement comprises a holder fixed to the pick-up and including a transverse pipe and a projection formed from a plate and spaced outwardly from and end of the pipe. The arrangement further comprises a wheel mounting bracket including a cylindrical tube pivotally and slidably received in the pipe and in a hole provided in the projection, the tube carrying a ring captured between the end of the pipe and the projection and containing a throughbore aligned with one of a pair of crossbores provided in the tube and receiving a linchpin bolt for retaining the wheel mounting bracket so as to dispose the wheel in a selected one of its positions.

A baler for making large cylindrical bales is equipped with a cutting device for cutting picked up crop into pieces before it enters the baling chamber. The cutting device includes a plurality of cutting knives that are pivotable about a horizontal transverse axis between an working position for cutting crop, wherein the knives each project upwardly through respective slits provided in a guide sheet, and a non-working position wherein the knives are withdrawn to a non-working position substantially below the guide sheet. A plurality of knife positioning elements are respectively associated with the knives and mounted for pivoting about a second horizontal transverse axis such that when the positioning elements are in a first position corresponding to the working position of the knives rollers respectively carried by the positioning elements are in engagement with a recess in a surface provided on the rear of the associated knife. The positioning elements are biased such that the roller carried by a given positioning element will remain in the recess of the associated knife so long as the force tending to rock the knife to its non-working position is below a predetermined amount. Once this force is exceeded, the knife will pivot to its non-working position until the force once again falls below the predetermined amount. A sensing device is associated with a warning or indicator circuit for letting the operator know when one of the knives has moved to a position not occupied by the remaining knives.
