An aftertreatment module is disclosed for use with an engine. The aftertreatment module may have an inlet housing at least partially defining an inlet passage for exhaust, and at least one mixer disposed in the inlet passage. The aftertreatment module may also have an outlet housing at least partially defining an outlet passage for exhaust, and a catalyst housing removably connected between the inlet housing and the outlet housing. The aftertreatment module may further have a plurality of catalyst substrates configured to be mounted in the catalyst housing, to receive exhaust from the inlet passage in parallel, and to discharge exhaust to the outlet housing in parallel.

An aftertreatment module may include a housing with an inlet port and an outlet port. A selective catalytic reduction catalyst may be disposed between the inlet port and the outlet port. A diffuser plate may be disposed downstream of the inlet port and upstream of the selective catalytic reduction catalysts. The diffuser plate may include a first section including a first degree of porosity and a second section including a second degree of porosity. The first degree of porosity may be greater than the second degree of porosity.

A mixing system for an aftertreatment system is disclosed. The mixing system includes a mixing tube. The mixing tube is provided in fluid communication with an exhaust conduit. The mixing system also includes a reductant injector positioned at an injection location on the mixing tube. The mixing system further includes a mixer assembly positioned downstream of the injection location. The mixer assembly includes a plurality of mixing elements provided in a series arrangement, such that each of the plurality of mixing elements is provided downstream of one another.

Mixing system for aftertreatment system

A spreader bar assembly is provided. The spreader bar assembly includes a pair of arms disposed in a scissor type arrangement. The pair of arms defines an axis of rotation therebetween. The spreader bar assembly further includes a contact member attached to an end of each of the pair of arms. The contact member of the spreader assembly is configured to contact with a catalyst. The spreader assembly also includes a sealing member. The sealing member is provided in association with the contact member. The sealing member is disposed on a first side of each of the pair of arms such that on exerting a force on the sealing member on the first side of each of the pair of arms, an opposing force is generated on a second side of each of the pair of arms disposed substantially opposite the first side of each of the pair of arms.

System and method for sealing catalyst within aftertreatment housing

One or more aftertreatment bricks are axially inserted through an opening in the first end of a tubular sleeve of an aftertreatment system. The aftertreatment brick includes a substrate matrix and a mantle disposed around the substrate matrix. The mantle further includes a lip arranged to extend through the opening of the sleeve. One or more channel pockets are secured proximate to the opening of the sleeve and oriented radially outward with respect to the sleeve axis. To retain the aftertreatment brick in the sleeve, a clamping assembly is used that includes a hook, a fastener, and a capture nut. The capture nut is installed and accommodated in the channel pockets. The hook engages the protruding lip of the aftertreatment brick and the fastener secures the hook to the capture nut received in the channel pocket.

System and method for accommodating aftertreatment bricks

A catalytic converter and muffler including a housing having an inlet disposed between a first end and a second end of the housing to introduce exhaust gases into an inlet chamber. A plurality of first exhaust treatment banks disposed between the inlet and the first end of the housing to allow the exhaust gases flow towards the first end from the inlet chamber into an end chamber. A mixing tube to direct the exhaust gases towards the second end from the end chamber into a flow distributor and a plurality of second exhaust aftertreatment banks and flow into an outlet chamber. At least one resonator chamber defined within the housing to attenuate noise in the exhaust gases.

Catalytic converter and muffler

An aftertreatment module for use with an engine is disclosed. The aftertreatment module may include a housing having an inlet configured to direct exhaust in a first flow direction into the aftertreatment module, and an outlet configured to direct exhaust in the first flow direction out of the aftertreatment module. The aftertreatment module may also include a catalyst bank separating the inlet from the outlet. The catalyst bank may have a face disposed at an oblique angle with respect to the first flow direction. The oblique angle may create an inlet passage extending from the inlet to the catalyst bank and having a decreasing cross-sectional area, and an outlet passage extending from the catalyst bank to the outlet and having an increasing cross-sectional area.

An aftertreatment module for use with an engine is disclosed. The aftertreatment module may have a plurality of inlets configured to direct exhaust in a first flow direction into the aftertreatment module. The aftertreatment module may also have a mixing duct configured to receive exhaust from the plurality of inlets, and a branching passage in fluid communication with the mixing duct. The branching passage may be configured to redirect exhaust from the mixing duct into separate flows that exit the aftertreatment module in a second flow direction opposite the first flow direction.

A reductant dosing manifold is disclosed. The reductant dosing manifold may have a housing with a pump interface configured to directly connect the reductant dosing manifold to a reductant pump, and a reductant supply passage in fluid communication with the pump interface. The housing may also have a reductant outlet port, and a pressurized reductant passage connecting the pump interface to the reductant outlet port.
