Curable compositions including epoxy-functional compounds and polyenes, as well as cyclic polysiloxanes, and/or tetrahedral siloxysilanes, and/or linear polysiloxanes; along with, or instead of these polyenes and silicon compositions, crosslinkable prepolymers prepared from such polyenes and silicon compounds may be included. A curing agent, and yet additionally, a curing accelerator, may also be included. These compositions can be thermally cured, in the presence of hydrosilation catalysts.

Curable and cured organosilicon compositions

Crosslinkable carbosilane polymer formulations are prepared from saturated or unsaturated carbosilane polymers containing reactive silicon hydride radicals in the polymer chain combined with polycyclic polyene crosslinkers having two or more double bonds that are reactive in the hydrosilation crosslinking reaction.

Crosslinkable carbosilane polymer formulations

Organosilicon polymers of polycyclic polyenes, cyclic polysiloxanes and/or tetrahedral siloxysilanes, and unsaturated hydrocarbyl group-bearing silicon compounds. The polymers are prepared by reacting the indicated compounds together, or by reacting the hydrocarbyl group-bearing silicon compounds with prepolymers of the polycyclic polyenes and cyclic polysiloxanes and/or tetrahedral siloxysilanes.

Organosilicon polymers

Novel thermoset and thermoplastic organosilicon polymers, comprised substantially of alternating polycyclic hydrocarbon residues and cyclic polysiloxane or tetrahedral siloxysilane residues linked through carbon-silicon bonds, are disclosed.

Process for preparing organosilicon polymers

A novel organosilicon prepolymer, which is the partial reaction product of (a) a cyclic polysiloxane or a tetrahedral siloxysilane containing at least two hydrosilane groups and (b) a polycyclic polyene having in its rings at least two chemically distinguishable carbon-carbon double bonds, wherein the ratio of carbon-carbon double bonds in the rings of (b) to hydrosilane groups in (a) is greater than 0.5:1 and up to 1.8:1, and at least one of the compounds (a) and (b) has more than two reactive sites, a method for making the organosilicon prepolymer, and a method for preparing an organosilicon polymer therefrom, are disclosed.

Process for preparing organosilicon prepolymers and polymers

A crosslinked organosilicon polymer or crosslinkable organosilicon prepolymer comprising alternating (a) polycyclic polyene residues and (b) polysiloxane/siloxysilane residues linked through carbon to silicon bonds, wherein the polycyclic polyene residues are derived from polycyclic polyenes having at least two non-aromatic carbon-carbon double bonds in their rings and the polysiloxane/siloxysilane residues are derived from (i) cyclic polysiloxanes or tetrahedral siloxysilanes and (ii) linear, .tbd.SiH terminated polysiloxanes.

Organosilicon compositions

Organosilicon prepolymer compositions which are the reaction products of (a) at least one of cyclic polysiloxanes or tetrahedral siloxysilanes containing at least two .tbd.SiH groups and (b) polycyclic polyenes having at least two non-aromatic, non-conjugated carbon-carbon double bonds in their rings, wherein the total ratio of the non-aromatic, non-conjugated carbon-carbon double bonds in the rings of (b) to .tbd.SiH groups in (a) in greater than 1.8:1 and either the .tbd.SiH containing compounds (a) or the polycyclic polyenes (b) have more than two reactive sites. The organosilicon compositions are blended with (c) at least one of additional cyclic polysiloxanes, additional tetrahedral siloxysilanes or linear, short chain .tbd.SiH terminated polysiloxanes to make fluid hydrosilation compositions. These storable blends are polymerized to thermally stable thermoset polymers.
