Cyanoacrylate-containing compositions that include, in addition to the cyanoacrylate component, an anhydride and a toughening agent comprising a co-polymer of polyvinyl chloride and polyvinyl acetate are provided.

Cyanoacrylate compositions

Cyanoacrylate compositions, methods for forming same, and applications thereof are disclosed. The compositions demonstrate improved thermal ageing performance, including improved tensile strength performance after heat ageing in high humidity.

Curable cyanoacrylate compositions are reported that comprise cyanoacrylate and a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) components. Such compositions are toughened cyanoacrylate compositions exhibiting long term viscosity stability when stored for prolonged periods at room temperature (25&#xb0; C.). TPU components are reported having structural units in which at least one of the structural units has the formula &#x2014;O&#x2014;R&#x2014;O&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;O&#x2014;R&#x2014;O&#x2014;, wherein Ar is a C-Caromatic group with at least one aromatic ring; Ris a C-Calkyl group; and Ris a C-Calkyl group. The thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) component may be present in the curable cyanoacrylate composition from about 1 wt % to about 40 wt %, for example from about 2 wt % to about 30 wt %, such from about 3 wt % to about 20 wt %, suitably from about 5 wt % to about 10 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition.

Toughened cyanoacrylate compositions

A cyanoacrylate composition with thermoplastic polyurethane, formulated as a non-flowable soft solid or semi solid mass, for example in stick form, is reported.

Solid cyanoacrylate compositions

Cyanoacrylate compositions that include a cyanoacrylate component, a rubber toughening component, a component containing at least two (meth)acrylate functional groups and an anhydride component are provided.

Cyanoacrylate compositions that include, in addition to an allyl-2-cyanoacrylate, a rubber toughening component and a component functionalized with at least two blocked hydroxyl groups are provided.

Two-part cyanoacrylate compositions, methods for making same, and uses therefor are described. The compositions can be used to bond a variety of substrates including plastics and metals. The compositions remain effective after thermal ageing and humid ageing.

Two-part cyanoacrylate curable adhesive system

Two part cyanoacrylate/cationically curable adhesive systems are provided, which contain vinyl ethers.
