A cellular covering for a roll-up type shade assembly is described. According to one embodiment, the covering typically comprises a plurality of cells vertically disposed on a backing sheet. Each cell is configured to self-inflate when unrolled from a roller of the shade assembly.

Cellular coverings for roll-up shades

A top down/bottom up covering for an architectural opening is disclosed in a roll-up configuration so the shade can be rolled about a roller in a head rail while having the ability to raise and lower top and bottom rails between which the shade material extends independently of each other. The roller is utilized to raise and lower the bottom rail by wrapping about or unwrapping the shade material from the roller and a control system for raising and lowering the top rail is confined within the roller. The invention is disclosed in embodiments that include a single operating element or a pair of operating elements but in each instance the top and bottom rails are independently movable so the shade material can be extended to any degree between the top and bottom rails and positioned at desired locations within the architectural opening in which the covering is mounted.

Roll up covering for architectural openings having top down/bottom up capability

The present invention incorporates ways to rapidly open an envelope in which an adhesive bandage is packaged in a sterile manner. Such bandages are commonly described as Band Aids&#x2122;. The method consists of a modification of the tabs currently used on one end of nearly all such envelopes. The modification consists of the enlargement of the tabs and the use of an additional fold to make the tabs easily gripped because they project out from the envelope. An additional embodiment of the invention causes all the envelopes in a box to be anchored in the box by tabs which are extensions of one half of each envelope, so that by pulling on the tab of the other half of the envelope, the bandage is both pulled from the box and extended from the envelope. An additional enhancement of the invention has one of the release strips protecting the adhesive portions of the bandage to adhere to the envelope, making the bandage ready for application without the need to remove that release strip through a separate action. A variety of bandage sizes may be included in one box, each size being available by a separate opening.

Adhesive bandage envelope

An apparatus and method for fabricating a cellular roller shade material for use in roller shade coverings for architectural openings is described. In a preferred embodiment, two fabric tapes are joined proximate an edge of each to form a wide fabric tape. The wide fabric tape is then pulled through a folding horn to fold the tape along a longitudinal axis that is laterally offset from the tape's longitudinal axis. Two longitudinal adhesive beads are applied to the folded tape by an adhesive applicator. The folded tape is then continuously wound onto tubular surface with the surfaces of the folded tape containing the adhesive beads being placed in an overlapping relationship with a portion of a previously wrapped section of the folded tape. The wrapped and joined tubular tape is cut to form a sheet of shade material that comprises plurality of horizontally-extending cells when utilized in a roller shade.

Cellular shade material for coverings for architectural openings

An improved expandable and contractible window covering comprising a series of elongated cells is disclosed. Each cell is formed by joining a pleated sheet of material with an unpleated sheet in an area of creases on the pleated sheet. The rear wall of the cell is of less height than the front wall of the cell and the material of the cell is chosen to be relatively soft and flexible so that the front wall of each cell droops downwardly and outwardly away from the rear wall. The covering is mountable on a roll bar so as to be retracted by rolling about the roll bar and extended by unrolling from the roll bar.

Roll up roman shade

A window shade comprising a base sheet-like material, such as a fabric, (1) which hangs vertically from a roller and to which is attached, by parallel narrow attachment means at intervals, a second sheet-like material of a decorative character (3) which is longer between its attachments (2) to the first material (1). If there is sufficiently excess decorative material (3) between lines of attachment (2), it folds twice between lines of attachment (2) when such a shade is rolled up. When the shade unrolls, the decorative material (3) flexes out from the base material (1) because of its greater length and forms an air-filled cell. Vertically arranged strips of these cells (18) may be formed on a single base sheet, with each strip unique in various ways to obtain a decorative effect. The shades may also be made of strips of material running the width of the shade. Decorative material which does not crease or fold tightly may be attached to the face of flexible material on a cell-by-cell basis. Variations in the dimensions of groups of cells can cause them to create decorative patterns of different types when they are viewed collectively.

Roll-up cellular shades

A flat plate hydronic solar collector combining features of both the trickle and pressurized type of collector and also of metal and plastic collectors, the invention consisting of a plastic film tube divided into pockets into which heat transfer liquid flows by gravity, moving through a multiple number of pockets as the liquid progresses through the tube, removing heat from the side of the tube facing the sun, the pressure in each pocket being limited by the depth of the pocket. An important embodiment of the invention has a metal solar energy absorber plate secured over the film tube and its mounting surface so that the swelling of the film tube causes it to make extensive contact with the metal absorber.
