A material separation system is disclosed that may include a vibratory shaker, a centrifuge, a sensor, and/or a processor circuit. The vibratory shaker may be configured to separate a solid-liquid mixture into a first solids-containing component and a shaker effluent. The sensor may be configured to measure a property of one or more of the solid-liquid mixture, the first solids-containing component, the shaker effluent, and the second solids-containing. A well-performance analysis system may be configured to analyze mud reports of drilling rigs within a geographic basin to determine which rigs are performing inefficiently. The system may allow recommendations and send control signals to improve the efficiency of the solid-liquid separation system. The system may allow an operator to view agglomerated well performance data to identify which rigs are performing below a geographic basin baseline and make informed decisions to improve the functioning of a solid-liquid separation system associated with one or more drilling rigs.

Smart solids control system

An apparatus that generates vibrational motion is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first mass, a second mass, a drive system, and a control system. The first mass is eccentrically mounted on, and configured to rotate about, a first shaft. The second mass is eccentrically mounted on, and configured to rotate about, a second shaft, with first and second shafts sharing a common axis. The drive system imparts rotational motion to first and second shafts, and the control system controls rotational frequencies, directions, and initial angles of the first and second masses. Linear, elliptical, or circular vibratory motion of the apparatus may be induced by controlling such rotational properties of the first and second masses. The apparatus may include a measurement device that measures angular position and/or velocity of the first and second masses. The control system may control the vibrational motion based on measurements taken by the measurement device.

Eccentric vibrator systems and methods

A method and apparatus for centrifuging. The apparatus comprises a centrifuge for centrifuging a slurry, comprising a bowl driven by a bowl drive motor, a screw conveyor driven by a screw conveyor drive motor, a pump driven by a pump motor, a bowl drive unit operatively arranged to drive the bowl drive motor, a conveyor drive unit operatively arranged to drive the screw conveyor drive motor, a pump drive unit operatively arranged to drive the pump drive motor, and, a general purpose first computer specially programmed to control the bowl drive unit to drive the bowl drive motor at a first constant speed and to control the screw conveyor drive unit to drive the screw conveyor drive motor at a second constant speed and to monitor the torques of the bowl drive motor and the screw conveyor drive motor, while simultaneously controlling the pump drive unit to variably control flow of the slurry through the centrifuge so as to drive one of the bowl drive motor or the screw conveyor motor at a pre-set operating torque.

Apparatus for centrifuging a slurry

A method and apparatus for centrifuging. The apparatus comprises a centrifuge for centrifuging a slurry, including a bowl driven by a bowl drive motor, a screw conveyor driven by a screw conveyor drive motor, a pump driven by a pump motor, a bowl drive unit operatively arranged to drive the bowl drive motor, a conveyor drive unit operatively arranged to drive the screw conveyor drive motor, a pump drive unit operatively arranged to drive the pump drive motor; and, a general purpose first computer specially programmed to control the bowl drive unit to drive the bowl drive motor at a first constant speed and to control the screw conveyor drive unit to drive the screw conveyor drive motor at a second constant speed and to monitor the torques of the bowl drive motor and the screw conveyor drive motor, while simultaneously controlling the pump drive unit to variably control flow of the slurry through the centrifuge in response to variations in developed torque of whichever of the bowl motor or screw conveyor motor which is operating closest to its rated torque. The method comprises steps to monitor torques of the bowl and conveyor motors, which are operating at constant speeds, and controlling the pump motor to regulate flow based upon the monitored torques.
