The present invention relates to a process for removing carbonyl sulfide from a liquid hydrocarbon feedstock, said process comprising the steps of (a) passing said hydrocarbon feedstock over an absorbent material comprising nickel deposited on a support material wherein nickel is present as both nickel oxide and metallic nickel and wherein the absorbent material has been conditioned by passing an inert gas flow containing a minor amount of propylene; and (b) recovering a liquid hydrocarbon stream having substantially reduced carbonyl sulfide content.

Process for removing carbonyl-sulfide from liquid hydrocarbon feedstocks

A process for production of gasoline comprising oligomerizing a C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 olefin containing feedstock over an intermediate pore size siliceous crystalline molecular sieve catalyst. The catalyst may take the form of silicalite, halogen stabilized silicalite, or a zeolite. Water may be supplied to the oligomerization reaction. The product from the oligomerization reaction is then subjected to an etherification reaction in the presence of methanol over an acid cation exchange catalyst to provide a gasoline product of enhanced octane number.

Process for producing gasoline

The present invention relates to a process for removing carbonyl sulfide from a liquid hydrocarbon feedstock, said process comprising the steps of (a) passing said hydrocarbon feedstock over an absorbent material comprising nickel deposited on a support material wherein nickel is present as both nickel oxide and metallic nickel and wherein the absorbent material has been conditioned by passing an inert gas flow containing a minor amount of propylene; and (b) recovering a liquid hydrocarbon stream having a substantially reduced carbonyl sulfide content.

Alkynes are selectively hydrogenated in alkene rich hydrocarbon feeds, such as 1,3-butadiene-rich C.sub.4 cuts, by passing the hydrocarbon feed at least partially in liquid phase over a palladium-based catalyst in the presence of hydrogen, preferably in trickle mode, followed by passing the effluent, at least partially in liquid phase preferably containing about 300-400 ppmw alkynes, over a copper-based catalyst in the presence of hydrogen thereby producing a hydrocarbon product of significantly reduced alkyne concentration.

A catalytic treatment process is disclosed, which is carried out under pressure, in the presence of water, and with a molecular sieve catalyst which is TEA-silicate or silicalite previously stabilized by halogenation. A process for the isomerization of n-butenes, comprising contacting, at elevated temperatures, a feed containing n-butenes with a catalyst comprising a crystalline silica polymorph of the silicalite type in the presence of stream to recover a steam containing isobutene. Process for the isomerization of olefins

A halogen-containing alumina catalyst for the polymerization of olefins to liquid polymers containing a major proportion of polymers having a molecular weight higher than the trimers, said catalyst selectively polymerizing isobutene from a mixture of butenes to produce liquid polyisobutene having a molecular weight higher than about 280; said catalyst containing from about 2 to about 20 wt. % chlorine, bromine or a mixture thereof, and being prepared from an alumina having a purity of at least 99% and a surface area greater than about 150 m.sup.2 /g with at least 10% of the pores having a diameter higher than about 200 .ANG.; said preparation being effected by contacting the alumina with a dry gaseous stream comprising a halogenation agent consisting essentially of volatile chlorinated and/or brominated saturated oliphatic organic compound having a vapor pressure of at least 100 mm of Hg at a temperature of 200.degree.-230.degree. C. and having a low hydrogen content, together with a non-reducing gaseous carrier at a temperature from about 230.degree. to about 300.degree. C. during a period of time t in hours such that the ratio t/R, wherein R is the mole ratio of gaseous carrier to halogenation agent, ranges between about 0.35 and about 20.

A process for producing isobutene, comprising contacting, at elevated temperatures, a feed containing propylene with a catalyst comprising a crystalline silica polymorph of the silicalite type in the presence of steam to recover a stream containing isobutene. The reaction can be carried out in either liquid or vapor phase.

Catalytic dehydrogenation of alkyl- or dialkyl- aromatic hydrocarbons such as ethylbenzene or ethyltoluene to vinyl aromatic hydrocarbons is achieved by passing the aromatic hydrocarbons on a crystalline silica which has been calcined under an inert atmosphere and which contains from about 0.05 to about 1 weight percent of an alkali metal oxide such as sodium oxide. In the preparation of the crystalline silica, limited washing of the crystalline silica precursor is performed to obtain an amount of alkali metal oxide remaining in the crystalline silica between about 0.05 and about 1 weight %.

Dehydrogenation process

A process for purifying crude terephthalic acid is disclosed which comprises treating a solution of crude terephthalic acid in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble heavy metal salt wherein the heavy metal is cobalt, manganese, iron or nickel under elevated pressure and at elevated temperature in the presence of a supported noble metal catalyst with nitrogen gas or a gas-mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen. The treated solution is then separated from the catalyst and purified crystalline terephthalic acid is recovered by crystallization and separation from the mother liquor wherein impurities and the heavy metal salts are retained. The process is especially useful for directly treating crude terephthalic acid obtained in an oxidation process in the presence of a heavy-metal-salt-catalyst.
