Aspects of the disclosure provide a flex connection for high altitude balloon applications. During operation flex connection allows a payload of a high-altitude balloon to remain level when an envelope of the balloon is tilted, in order to change the direction of the balloon. As an example, a system may include a balloon envelope, a payload, a cable between the balloon envelope and the payload, and a flex connection on the cable. The flex connection enables the payload to remain level relative to the ground when the balloon is in flight and the balloon envelope is tilted relative to the payload. The flex connection includes a top portion, a plurality of discs, and a bottom portion.

Systems and devices are disclosed herein that provide or relate to modular accessory devices for a wearable device, such as a glasses-style head-mountable device (HMD). Illustrative systems may include a first frame component having an accessory slot accessible via an entry point on a transverse surface of the first frame component, a second frame component movably coupled to the first frame component, and one or more accessory devices that each have a slot-mating feature shaped for insertion into and removal from the accessory slot via the entry point. The second frame component may be movable between a first position in which the second frame component blocks access to the entry point, and a second position in which the second frame component allows access to the entry point.

The technology relates to systems and methods for creating openings in ground material in order to install ground loops for geothermal heating and cooling applications. As an example, a system for creating an opening in ground material may include a first drill head configured as a pipe pulling drill head and a second drill head configured for attachment with a boring tool. When attached to an end of a pipe, the first drill head is configured to pull the pipe into the opening in ground material. The second drill head may include a drilling portion and an opening opposite of the drilling portion, the opening including a first chamber that tapers towards a second chamber. The first drill head also includes a drilling end configured for a locking fit within the second chamber.

Systems and methods for mounting a motor to a receiving device of a UAS are disclosed herein. The motor may include a number of protruding elements, each protruding element including a shank segment having a first diameter and a head segment having a second diameter that is larger than the first diameter. The receiving device may include a base configured to couple the receiving device to the UAS, a first sidewall extending upwardly from a first side of the base, and a second sidewall extending upwardly from a second side of the base. Both the first and second sidewalls may include at least one receptacle. The head segment of each protruding element may be configured to interlock with one or more of the receptacles of the first sidewall or the second sidewall when the protruding elements are inserted between the first sidewall and the second sidewall of the receiving device.

Portable transdermal electrical stimulation (TES) applicators for modifying a subject's cognitive state. In general, the portable applicators described are specifically configured and adapted to be lightweight and may be wearable, and to deliver a high-intensity TES able to evoke or enhance a predetermined cognitive effect. These TES applicators may include a pair of electrodes and a TES control module comprising a processor, a timer and a waveform generator. TES control module is adapted to deliver a biphasic electrical stimulation signal of 10 seconds or longer between the first and second electrodes having a frequency of 400 Hz or greater, a duty cycle of greater than 10 percent, an intensity of 3 mA or greater, with a DC offset.

Transdermal electrical stimulation devices for modifying or inducing cognitive state

Methods of modifying a subject's cognitive state by applying transdermal electrical stimulation (TES). In particular, described herein are methods of applying TES using a pair of electrodes each positioned at a particular location on the skin of the subject's head, or the head and neck, to evoke a predetermined cognitive state using a TES applicator. In particular, described herein are methods of enhancing attention, alertness, or mental focus or of enhancing a calm or relaxed mental state by applying high-intensity TES across electrodes positioned on the subject's temple and either the mastoid region or on the subject's neck. The subject may control the application directly and TES may be applied by a portable, including wearable, TES applicator.

Transdermal electrical stimulation methods for modifying or inducing cognitive state

Described herein are devices, systems, and methods for transdermal electrical stimulation. Devices described herein can include self-contained, lightweight, and wearable components. The devices include a primary unit including a first transdermal electrode and a secondary unit including a second transdermal electrode. The device can be capable of wireless communication. The primary unit and secondary unit are placed at two locations on the skin of a user, for example on the head or neck of a user. The first and second transdermal electrodes are electrically connected. Electrical stimulation is driven between the two electrodes. The electrical stimulation induces a cognitive effect in a user of the device.
