Novel organic compounds comprising a bicarbazole core are provided. In particular, the compounds has a 3,3'-bicarbazole core substituted at the 9-position with a triazine or pyrimidine. The compounds may be used in organic light emitting devices to provide devices having improved efficiency and improved lifetime.

Organic electroluminescent materials and devices

Novel organic compounds comprising ligands with deuterium substitution are provided. In particular, the compound is an iridium complex comprising methyl-dsubstituted ligands. The compounds may be used in organic light emitting devices to provide devices having improved color, efficiency and lifetime.

A compound having the structure of is disclosed. In the structure of Formula I, each of R, R, and Ris independently a hydrogen, a non-fused aryl group having one meta-substituent, or a non-fused heteroaryl six-membered ring having one or more meta-substituents; each meta-substituent is a non-fused aryl or non-fused heteroaryl six-membered ring optionally substituted with further substituents selected from the group consisting of non-fused aryl groups, non-fused heteroaryl groups, and alkyl groups; and at least one of R, R, and Ris a non-fused aryl having one meta-substituent or a heteroaryl six-membered ring having at least one meta-substituent, wherein each meta-substituent is a non-fused aryl or non-fused heteroaryl group further substituted with a chain of at least two non-fused aryl or non-fused heteroaryl groups. The compounds may be useful in phosphorescent organic light emitting devices.

Novel compounds comprising heteroleptic iridium complexes are provided. The compounds have a particular combination of ligands which includes a single pyridyl dibenzo-substituted ligand. The compounds may be used in organic light emitting devices, particularly as emitting dopants, to provide devices having improved efficiency, lifetime, and manufacturing.

Devices containing novel carbazole-containing compounds are provided. The novel compounds also contain electron donor groups, aryl linkers, and at least one nitrogen heterocycle. These novel organic compounds can exhibit delayed fluorescence in the devices.

A compound having the structure of Formula I is disclosed. In the structure of Formula I, each of R, R, and Ris independently a hydrogen, a non-fused aryl group having one meta-substituent, or a non-fused heteroaryl six-membered ring having one or more meta-substituents; each meta-substituent is a non-fused aryl or non-fused heteroaryl six-membered ring optionally substituted with further substituents selected from the group consisting of non-fused aryl groups, non-fused heteroaryl groups, and alkyl groups; and at least one of R, R, and Ris a non-fused aryl having one meta-substituent or a heteroaryl six-membered ring having at least one meta-substituent, wherein each meta-substituent is a non-fused aryl or non-fused heteroaryl group further substituted with a chain of at least two non-fused aryl or non-fused heteroaryl groups. The compounds may be useful in phosphorescent organic light emitting devices.

An organic light emitting diode (OLED) architecture in which efficient operation is achieved without requiring a blocking layer by locating the recombination zone close to the hole transport side of the emissive layer. Aryl-based hosts and Ir-based dopants with suitable concentrations result in an efficient phosphorescent OLED structure. Previously, blocking layer utilization in phosphorescent OLED architectures was considered essential to avoid exciton and hole leakage from the emissive layer, and thus keep the recombination zone inside the emissive layer to provide high device efficiency and a pure emission spectrum.

Non-blocked phosphorescent OLEDs

A compound having a structure of is disclosed. In these formulas, each R, R, and Ris independently selected from hydrogen, alkyl, and aryl; at least one of Rand Ris a branched alkyl containing at least 4 carbon atoms, where the branching occurs at a position further than the benzylic position; where Rand Rare mono-, di-, tri-, tetra-, or no substitutions; and Ris mono-, di-, or no substitutions. Heteroleptic iridium complexes including such compounds, and devices including such compounds are also disclosed.

A compound of: is disclosed. In Formula IV, ring B and ring C are each independently a 5 or 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; A-B represents a bonded pair of carbocyclic or heterocyclic rings coordinated to a metal M via a nitrogen atom in ring A and an sphybridized atom in ring B; A-C represents a bonded pair of carbocyclic or heterocyclic rings; M is a metal having an atomic number greater than 40; L' is a monoanionic bidentate ligand; m is the oxidation state of the metal M; and n is at least 1.

Novel electroluminescent devices containing bicarbazole triazine compounds as emissive dopants are described. Devices incorporating this class of compounds exhibit delayed fluorescence characteristics that showed EQE's far exceeding the theoretical limit for a conventional fluorescent device.

Ir phenyl parazolepyrazole complexes substituted with one or more strong electron withdrawing groups such as cyano groups resulted in enhancing the metal to ligand charge transfer (MLCT) which in turn resulted in enhanced emission efficiency and red shifted emission.
