The disclosed computer-implemented method may include receiving, from a client device, a request for multimedia content, where the request includes both a manifest request that includes client identification data and a license request that includes a license challenge. The method may further include validating the received request for multimedia content using the client identification data in the manifest request and generating a manifest response that includes an identification of a specified multimedia content stream that is to be provided to the client device. The method may also include acquiring at least one license in response to the license request, where the license includes a response to the license challenge having various content keys, and then providing the specified multimedia content stream, including the generated manifest response and the acquired license, to the client device. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for streamlining multimedia content acquisition

Theoretical and practical constraints disallow direct determination of the structure of the atomic nucleus. Contained herein is a magnet model of the atomic nucleus, derived from considerations of charge density, RMS charge radii, magnetic moments, and nucleon binding energy. These physical properties point to a sequential, alternating up and down quark structure modeled in the present invention by an array of magnets alternating in polarity. The summation of the pull forces of the two magnet poles is unequal, and when two such magnet arrays are placed opposite one another in magnetic potential energy barrier assembly, the two arrays repel at a distance and attract when near one another. In one embodiment, the ratio of the maximum attractive force to the maximum repulsive force very closely approximates the strong force constant 137. This invention serves as a demonstration of the Coulomb barrier for the student, and a potentially useful model for probing the forces and structure of the atomic nucleus.

Techniques are provided for creating a mapping that maps locations in audio data (e.g., an audio book) to corresponding locations in text data (e.g., an e-book). Techniques are provided for using a mapping between audio data and text data, whether the mapping is created automatically or manually. A mapping may be used for bookmark switching where a bookmark established in one version of a digital work (e.g., e-book) is used to identify a corresponding location with another version of the digital work (e.g., an audio book). Alternatively, the mapping may be used to play audio that corresponds to text selected by a user. Alternatively, the mapping may be used to automatically highlight text in response to audio that corresponds to the text being played. Alternatively, the mapping may be used to determine where an annotation created in one media context (e.g., audio) will be consumed in another media context.

A flywheel energy storage device includes the Halbach Motor/Generator with rolling biphasic coil control, continuously variable torque transfer via magnetic induction and a reluctance magnetic levitation system known as the Axial-Loading Magnetic Reluctance Device. Electric energy input turns the magnetically coupled rotors of the Halbach motor, and torque is transferred to a flywheel through a copper cylinder variably inserted between the Halbach magnet rotors. In idle mode, the energy is stored kinetically in the spinning flywheel, which is levitated by a permanent magnet bearing. Electric energy output is achieved by transferring torque from the flywheel through the copper cylinder to the rotors of the Halbach Generator by magnetic induction. Rolling biphasic motor control includes dividing Halbach motor coils into increments, then energizing groups of contiguous increments into virtual coils, which revolve in tandem with the magnet rotors so to achieve continuous and optimal torque.

What is disclosed are embodiments of magnetic torque transfer devices utilizing torque transfer by magnetic induction in which an induction cylinder fabricated from an electrical conductor is interposed into the gap between a pair of magnetically coupled primary and secondary rotors. Rotation of the induction cylinder relative to the coupled rotors evokes magnetic torque transfer in accordance with Lenz's Law. The primary rotor rotates within a toroid shaped stator. The stator may be configured for rolling biphasic coil control. The secondary rotor is attached to a propeller. The device may function as a turbine when fluid is directed to flow over the propeller. The device may function as a pump when AC power is supplied to the stator. Rolling biphasic motor control includes dividing motor coils into increments, then configuring groups of contiguous increments into virtual coils, which revolve in tandem with the primary rotor so to achieve continuous and optimal torque transfer with minimum torque ripple.

Magnetic-drive axial-flow fluid displacement pump and turbine

A magnetic bearing retains a rotatable shaft in a selected position by magnetic coupling between a circular magnet and one or more magnet arrays. Each magnetic coupling completes a magnetic circuit. The magnet arrays focus magnetic flux towards the circular magnet to facilitate magnetic coupling. Magnet arrays configured in Halbach series may be employed. Magnet arrays configured as electromagnets may also be employed. The shaft may be attached either to the circular magnet or the magnet arrays. Shaft rotation does not affect the magnetic circuit, but axial displacement of the shaft disrupts the magnetic circuit and increases magnetic reluctance. Increasing magnetic reluctance inhibits axial displacement. The shaft thereby supports a load while rotating freely, constrained to a selected position by forces of magnetic reluctance. A centering bearing may be employed to maintain gap distance between circular magnet and one or more magnet arrays.

Passive magnetic bearing

A motor includes two magnetically coupled, coaxially-nested Halbach cylinder rotors, one of which passes through a toroidal series of at least two stator coils while the other is attached to an axle or other means of transferring mechanical power. An embodiment is described comprising an additional third Halbach cylinder rotor in which a circumferential arrangement of permanent magnets is mounted rotatably and proximally outside the stator coils, coaxial with the stator coils. Adjacent stator coils are configured so as to produce opposing magnetic fields upon energizing of the motor. Alternating the current to the stator coils induces movement in the rotor. Commutation can occur brushlessly, or the motor can be configured to function without commutation by varying the frequency of the alternating current, and can be configured to operate by either DC or AC current. Alternatively, the rotor may be driven to generate an electric current in the stator.

Halbach motor and generator

A vessel with powered display portion, powered by heat differential from a liquid in the vessel, and a thermoelectric generator. Heat from the liquid is used to generate electricity using a thermoelectric generator in thermal contact with the liquid, and a heat sink or radiator. Cold liquid in the vessel can also be used to generate electricity, by the difference in temperature outside the vessel. The powered display may be made of flexible material and can include LEDs, OLEDS, LCD, luminous tubing, fiber optics, or other light emitting structures.

The security level and/or other device behavior, configurations, or settings on a mobile device can be modified based on the location of the mobile device. The location of the mobile device can be determined by analyzing location aspects present at a location, where any parameters or attributes of a location that can assist in identifying a particular location may be used as location aspects. In a setup process, the mobile device identifies available aspects at a location and can use the available aspects to determine a location context associated with a location. In a use example, the device identifies available aspects at a location and determines whether the available aspects match a previously defined location context. If the available aspects match the previously defined location context, device behavior, configurations, or settings on a mobile device can be modified.

Location-sensitive security levels and setting profiles based on detected location

A motor includes a base plate and an armature having two or more arms mounted to the base plate for rotation about an axis. At least two powerstroke solenoids are positioned on each arm for applying force effecting first rotational motion of the armature. At least one reset solenoid is positioned on each arm for applying force effecting second rotational motion of the armature opposite the first rotational motion. Means are provided for sequentially applying current to the powerstroke solenoids and then to the reset solenoids to effect an oscillating motion of the armature. Further means are provided for transferring the first rotational motion to a disk cylinder rotatably mounted to the base plate for rotation about the axis, but for restraining the transfer of the second rotational motion to the disk cylinder.

Radial solenoid array

A food and liquid container is disclosed having a base and lid and providing for an air-tight seal between the base and lid when they are attached to each other. The seal is achieved at several points which create two air-pockets. The securing portion associated with the base can be substantially J-shaped in cross section, while the securing portion of the lid can be substantially u-shaped in cross section. A first ridge on the J-shaped section abuts with a second ridge on the u-shaped section when the lid is attached to the base with the second ridge disposed above the first ridge. The lower outer end of the u-shaped section can be rounded and a lip can extend outward for easier gripping when removing the lid from the base.

An aquatic device for carrying a rider, includes a buoyant mat having handles and towing attachments. The mat has inflatable air channels which are formed to permit the mat to arch over the water, carrying the rider when towed at proper speed. One or more air channels extend transversely to the major axis along a forward portion of the mat. A rear portion has air channels which radiate out towards a peripheral air channel. The towing attachments are mounted to the forward edge of the mat.
