A combination torque tool and torque tool analyzer that includes a housing and a portable tool that can be mounted on the housing. The housing has a control panel with indicator lights and control buttons on an upper surface thereof and contains inside it a torque transducer and torque level alarm circuitry. The portable tool can be used as a torque tool, such as a screwdriver, or a torque tool analyzer.

An improved adjustable torque wrench that includes a slidably interconnected load screw and adjusting screw positioned within a telescoping lever arm and handle, and also includes a slidable and rotatable adjustment connection between the load and adjusting screws and the handle and lever arm which permits adjusting of the torque setting by a push-pull action of the handle relative to the lever arm.

An improved adjusting torque wrench includes an adjusting screw that is utilized for the purpose of changing the torque setting of the wrench. The screw has a radial flange thereon having a plurality of circumferentially spaced notches in the outer periphery of the flange. The adjusting screw is fixed to the grip member and rotatable therewith relative to an adjusting nut that is fixed in the lever arm of the wrench. A detent that is movable into and out of the recesses in the adjusting screw is slidably carried by the lever arm so that when engaged in the recesses, the detent prevents relative rotation between the grip member and the lever arm, and thus prevents adjustment of the torque. Also, the detent extends exteriorly of the gripping member so that it can be grasped by the operator of the wrench and moved out of the recesses so that the wrench can be easily adjusted to a new torque setting.

The improved indicating device is constructed from a single piece of resilient material such as Delrin or Teflon and includes a bifurcated friction portion that is disposed in a groove in the wrench. The friction portion is constructed so that the tines can be deformed to pass through a narrow slot and frictionally engage sides of the groove. The indicator member also includes an upstanding portion that is engageable with the pointer of the torque wrench to move the indicator as the pointer moves relative to the torque scale. Since the indicator member is in frictional engagement with the torque wrench, the indicator remains at the maximum torque after releasing the torque from the wrench and permitting the pointer to return to zero, thereby facilitating reading the maximum torque exerted.
