Disclosed are methods of producing a supported organic catalyst system comprising the steps of: (a) providing an organic catalyst solution comprising an organic catalyst dissolved in a supercritical-like solvent; (b) contacting a support material with the organic catalyst solution; and (c) removing substantially all of the supercritical-like solvent from the organic catalyst and the support material.

Disclosed are methods of cleaning articles of manufacture using hydrofluorocarbon and hydrochlorofluorocarbon fluids. The methods comprise generally the steps of (a) providing a hydrofluorocarbon and/or hydrochlorofluorocarbon fluid in liquid or supercritical state; (b) contacting an article of manufacture with said fluid; and (c) removing substantially all of said fluid from said article of manufacture.

The present invention relates to novel compositions of drying agents of superabsorbent polymers, molecular sieves and mixtures thereof and binders of polyurethane foam, polyisocyanurate foam and supports comprising cellulose and a method for separating, drying and/or filtering chemical mixtures. The composition and method of the invention have broad applicability. They may be used for example to remove water from chemical mixtures like refrigerants (e.g., in vehicular refrigeration systems), air (e.g., in vehicular braking systems), natural gas and cleaning solvents (e.g., used in semiconductor manufacture and pipeline cleaning).

Hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants are not soluble in hydrocarbon oil. Retrofitting refrigeration equipment with hydrofluorocarbons generally entails the use of expensive polyol ester (POE) lubricants. The invention provides hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant compositions that are soluble in hydrocarbon oil thus allowing for a simpler and less expensive retrofit option to the refrigerant user.

Provided are methods of introducing environmentally desirable refrigerants into refrigeration systems. The present methods involve recharging a refrigerant system that contains a chlorine-containing refrigerant and a lubricant comprising the steps of (a) removing the chlorine-containing refrigerant from the refrigeration system while retaining a substantial portion of the lubricant in said system; and (b) introducing to said system a composition comprising: (i) a refrigerant; (ii) a surfactant; and (iii) a solubilizing agent.
