A coffee grinder for discharging ground coffee into a brewing funnel which will be removed and inserted into a coffee making machine. The coffee grinder has a ground coffee discharge opening in the underside of an overhanging portion of the grinder. A pair of spring clips of a particular configuration are mounted on the grinder so as to support a brewing funnel immediately beneath the ground coffee opening.

A bag-receiving chute combination for a coffee grinder which has a downwardly facing discharge opening from which different sized batches of ground coffee discharge into bags of correspondingly different heights. The combination comprises an elongated, channel-shaped chute body adapted to be mounted underneath the grinder discharge opening so as to extend downwardly with sufficient spacing from the grinder body to permit insertion of the mouth of a bag around the chute. In addition there is a bag mouth spreader so shaped and mounted on the chute as to prevent a user from incorrectly mounting a bag under and around the chute.

An electric motor driven coffee grinder is turned on by manually activating an on/off/start switch when a bag is in position to receive ground coffee under a discharge chute and automatically turned off when the bag is removed. The grinder motor is controlled by both the manual on/off/start switch and by a switch which is actuated by a pivotally mounted lever responsive to the presence and absence of a bag under the discharge chute. This lever is designed to assume a switch-off position when no bag is present and is pivoted to a switch-on position when a bag is present.
