A reinforcement element has a carrier having a longitudinal axis and elongate opening extending in the axis direction. The reinforcement element has an insert element having a longitudinal axis constructed to be arranged in the elongate opening. The insert element has first and second portions. The first portions are parallel with a first plane. The insert element longitudinal axis is in this first plane. The second portions are parallel with a second plane. The insert element longitudinal axis is in the second plane. The reinforcement element has a first adhesive which can be arranged on the carrier outer side and on a first group of insert element first portions and to bond the carrier and insert element in the structural element. The reinforcement element has a second adhesive which can be arranged on a second group of insert element first portions and to bond the insert element in the carrier.

Reinforcement element

Disclosed are various embodiments of expandable barriers. Expandable barriers are typically barriers made from an expandable material and formed to fit within a cavity. After being placed inside a cavity, expandable barriers generally undergo an activation process, where the expandable barrier expands to fill the cavity and create a physical barrier. Using various extrusion processes to form an expandable barrier allows for a reduction in tooling costs, while also allowing more flexible barrier designs. Such designs can be specifically tailored for a particular cavity or cavities to ensure that the barrier fills the cavity after expansion.

Expandable barrier

Exemplary baffles for inhibiting noise transmission through a pillar structure, and exemplary methods of making the same, are disclosed. An exemplary baffle may include a body configured to be secured in a cavity, the body defining a passage for selectively receiving a line extending through the body. The baffle may further include an expandable material extending substantially about a perimeter of the passage. The expandable material may be configured to expand to seal the cavity about the body. The body may include a flap configured to open to allow the line to extend through the passage. The body may further include a biasing element urging the flap toward a closed position, substantially obstructing the passageway.

A baffle assembly for a hollow cavity is disclosed. The baffle assembly includes a labyrinth that defines a tortuous drain passageway. The baffle assembly includes a vertical portion that abuts an expandable material to reduce the transmission of noise and other vibrations.

A physical barrier for sealing an orifice in a panel member is presented. The physical barrier includes a carrier that has one or more locating pins mounted on it. The pins are adapted to locate the carrier in the orifice. The physical barrier also includes a sealing material attached to the carrier. Also included is a method of installing the physical barrier into an orifice of a panel member.

A physical barrier for sealing an orifice in a panel member is disclosed. The physical barrier includes a carrier that has one or more locating pins mounted on it. The pins are adapted to locate the carrier in the orifice. The physical barrier also includes a sealing material attached to the carrier. A method of installing the physical barrier into an orifice of a panel member is also disclosed.
