A lens indexing assembly is provided that includes a holding portion configured to support a rotating portion, wherein the holding portion has an outer surface configured for holding having a plurality of segments with recesses between segments and a bearing surface, a rotating portion configured for coupling with the holding portion, wherein the rotating portion is configured to rotate relative to the holding portion, and wherein the rotating portion has a bearing surface for rotating relative to the bearing surface of the holding portion, and wherein the rotating portion includes a plurality of tactile features on an outer surface, and an ophthalmic contact lens configured for coupling with the rotating portion, wherein the plurality of tactile features on the outer surface of the rotating portion are configured to provide tactile feedback corresponding to a plurality of angular positions of the ophthalmic contact lens relative to the holding portion.

Lens indexing assembly

In one embodiment, a double-reflecting contact lens and carrier assembly for viewing the anterior chamber and the anterior chamber angle of an eye, the eye having an optical axis, includes a lens including a lens body having a contact end defining at least a portion of a first surface configured for contacting an eye and a viewing end defining at least a portion of a second surface, a first reflecting surface disposed adjacent the lens body at an angle relative to the optical axis of the eye, and a second reflecting surface disposed adjacent the lens body opposing the first reflecting surface at an angle relative to the first reflecting surface, and a carrier configured for carrying the lens in a manner that provides rotation of the lens relative to the eye of a patient.

Unreversed prism gonioscopy lens and carrier assembly

In one embodiment, a double-reflecting contact lens for viewing the anterior chamber and the anterior chamber angle of an eye, the eye having an optical axis, includes a lens body having a contact end defining at least a portion of a first surface for contacting an eye and a viewing end defining at least a portion of a second surface, a first reflecting surface disposed adjacent the lens body, wherein the first reflecting surface is a planar surface extending from the viewing end to a middle region in the body between the viewing end and the contact end, and a second reflecting surface disposed adjacent the lens body, wherein the second reflecting surface is a planar surface extending from the viewing end to the contact end, the second reflecting surface opposing the first reflecting surface at an angle relative to the first reflecting surface.

Unreversed prism gonioscopy lens

A self-adhering, flexible gonioscopic lens for adhering to cornea and scleral regions of an eye includes a central lens having a body including a contact surface and a viewing surface, the contact surface having a radius of curvature that approximates the radius of curvature of the cornea, an eye fixation system configured for fixing the central lens to the eye, wherein the eye fixation system is attached to the annular perimeter of the contact surface of the central lens, extending around only a portion of the annular perimeter of the contact surface of the central lens to define a cut-out portion in the eye fixation system of the gonioscopic lens.

Flexible gonioscopic lens

A lens assembly generally includes an ophthalmic contact lens, a rotating collar configured for rotation around at least a portion of an outer surface of the lens, and an indexing assembly configured to provide tactile feedback to a user in the form of increased resistance to relative rotation of the lens and the collar at uniformly spaced indexing positions.

Lens assemblies, indexing assemblies therefor, and methods of indexing same

A gonio lens is provided including a contact lens element and a geometric reference member. The contact lens element has an optical axis, a concave posterior contact surface to be placed in optical contact with the cornea of a patient's eye, and an anterior surface. The geometric reference member, such as a scale, is provided near the concave posterior contact surface of the contact lens element. The configuration and location of the geometric reference member are chosen to provide an image of the geometric reference member adjacent to an image of the periphery of the anterior chamber of the eye of a patient within a field of view of the contact lens element when the contact lens element is placed on the eye of a patient. The two images are formed relative to each other such that they are simultaneously in focus to permit visual comparison between the two.

Gonio lens with geometric reference

An ophthalmoscopic prism, for example a gonioscope, has an optically transparent body, the distal end carries a viewing surface preferably oriented perpendicularly to the optical axis of the body, the proximal end of the prism carries a concave surface having a curvature similar to the curvature of the cornea of a patient. The proximal end has at least one planar surface extending outwardly and distally from a location adjacent the periphery of the concave surface. The body has an index of refraction that provides total internal reflection to a viewer looking through the viewing surface even when the planar surface is at least partially wetted with a fluid.

Ophthalmoscopic prism

An iridotomy and trabeculoplasty goniolaser lens has a contact lens element, a planar mirror offset from the optical axis of the contact lens element and first and second button lenses mounted on the anterior surface of the contact lens element. Magnification, curvature and location of the button lenses are chosen so as to provide the ability to simultaneously deliver laser energy to the iris of a patient's eye along a first optical path offset from the optical axis of the contact lens element and to view the trabecular meshwork around the region where the laser energy was applied. This ability eliminates the need for a plurality of contact lenses for delivering energy and viewing the eye and further eliminating the need for refocusing the microscope through which the surgeon views the eye.
