Apparatuses and methods are provided for determining whether a user intends to provide an input using an image of a control appearing on a surface. An apparatus may include first and second cameras to capture set and second sets of two or more images of the surface, and a unit to determine whether various conditions are true. A first condition is that a particular number of skin-color pixels are present within one cell of the two or more images. A cell location substantially coincides with the image of the control. A second condition is that the skin-color pixels persist for at least a particular time period. A third condition is that a region of skin-color pixels has a substantially rectangular shape. A fourth condition is that corresponding edges of skin-color pixels in the first and second sets of images are within a predefined offset distance. Additional conditions are disclosed.

Device, apparatus and methods for implementing a direct address mode to directly access registers by passing an indirect interface includes a display controller. A plurality of direct access registers for bypassing indirect interface is defined within the display controller. The display controller includes a bus interface having a first pin that is configured to activate the direct address mode and a second pin that configured to identify one of the direct access registers. The first pin in conjunction with the second pin provides a direct address mode through which the non-direct access registers may be directly accessed bypassing the indirect interface so that register index cycle, when accessing memory, may be avoided.

Method and apparatus for indirect interface with enhanced programmable direct port

A method and apparatus for determining the status of frame data transmission from an imaging device. According to one aspect of the invention, a graphics controller interfaces with a host and an imaging device, preferably a camera. A count value is specified, preferably by the host. Frame data received from the imaging device are counted to determine an actual count. A comparison is made between the actual count and the count value. Preferably, responsive to the comparison, an indication signal is generated for interrupting the host.

Data throughput of the serial host interface is improved by combining command and register address data into a single index word to be transmitted through the serial host interface. The least significant bit (LSB) of the index word specifies the command and the remainder of the index word specifies the register address. Thus, transmission of just two words is required to transmit each of a single write data word and a single read data word. Additionally, the serial host interface provides for elimination of the dummy access word as required when performing a read transmission using a conventional serial host interface protocol.

Provided is a method and apparatus for dynamic cross fading. Specifically, an embedded system can display an image produced from a blend of other images. Initially, a first image and a second image are stored in a buffer in a display controller. Then, the display controller extracts pixels from corresponding locations in the first image and the second image. The pixels are combined with weights associated with each image to perform the cross fade calculation. Consequently, the result from the cross fade calculation is transmitted to a display unit connected to the display controller for viewing. The result can also be fetched during a refresh of a panel in the display unit. In either case, the result is transmitted to a display pipe during dynamic cross fading. Thus, any images stored in the buffer remain unchanged.

A display controller is provided. The display controller is configured to provide an indirect addressing mode to access a memory location within the display controller. The display controller includes a first pin configured to enable access to one of a register of the display controller or a memory region of the display controller based upon a logical level of a first signal received by the first pin. A second pin is included. The second pin is configured to define the access to the register or the memory region as one of address information or data based upon a logical level of a second signal received by the second pin. The display controller includes an extra pin mode module configured to enable the first signal to select the data to access memory without accessing a register block. A device and methods for implementing an indirect addressing mode is also provided.

A method for converting between color space formats initiates with identifying a first color space format. Then, both an offset parameter and a scale parameter are selected. The offset parameter and the scale parameter are associated with the first color space format. A conversion matrix configured to convert values associated with the first color space format to a second color space format is identified. When to apply the offset parameter and the scale parameter in relation to application of the conversion matrix is determined, i.e., to the input for the conversion matrix or to the output from the conversion matrix. A computer readable medium, a display controller and an integrated circuit are also included.

Method and apparatus for color space conversion

A graphics display controller providing enhanced read/write efficiency for interfacing with a RAM-integrated graphics display device. According to the invention, a graphics display controller is disclosed for interfacing between a host and a graphics display device having an associated memory is provided that includes an embedded memory, a format converter, and a data storage memory. The embedded memory is adapted for storing frames of video data received from a host. The format converter is adapted to convert the video data in at least one of two ways: (1) from the data format of the host to the data format of the display device and (2) from the data format of the display device to the data format of the host. The data storage memory has a memory size that is smaller than the embedded memory, and defines a data path that bypasses the embedded memory but connects to the format converter.
