Apparatus for disintegrating bales comprises a hopper with vertical end walls and two side walls which converge inwardly and downwardly to a part cylindrical base portion extending longitudinally of the hopper. The upper face of the hopper defined at the top of the side and end walls is open to receive a bale dumped into the hopper. In the hopper is provided a pair of parallel rollers for supporting an rotating the bale when in the hopper. In the base portion is provided a flail roller which rotates about its axis grasping material and throwing it out of an exit slot longitudinally of the hopper at the base of the hopper. Rectangular bales are loaded into the hopper by an inclined ramp with a chain conveyor on the ramp, the ramp having a loading position in which it is inclined from a forward edge adjacent one side wall to a rear edge at the ground for pushing under the rectangular bale by which the bale is carried up the ramp to sit on the ramp. The ramp can then be raised to a discharge position in which it is inclined upwardly and rearwardly from the top edge of the end wall so the bale can be forced downwardly and forwardly into the hopper even though the bale may have a length greater than that of the hopper. To accommodate different types of bale, also the grid bars over the flail roller are commonly adjustable so that their height from the flail roller is adjusted by raising and lowering one end of the grid bars on a shaft extending along the length of the hopper and operable by a lever at one end.

Disintegration of baled crop materials

Apparatus for disintegrating baled material in the form of large cylindrical bales, a collection of small rectangular bales or large rectangular bales includes a hopper for receiving the baled material. At the base of the hopper is provided a flail cylinder which engages the material and sweeps it around to an ejection slot along one side of the hopper. Above the flail cylinder is provided a pair of support rollers each on a respective side of the flail cylinder with the axes parallel to the flail cylinder. The rollers can be rotated in either direction to provide a vigorous rotating action of the baled material despite flat edges of the baled material. The rollers are mounted so that they can lift from the surface of the hopper if material passes between the underside of the roller and the inside surface of the hopper on its way to the flail cylinder.

An agricultural frame particularly for transporting active harrow elements and packer elements comprises a central frame section and a pair of wing frames projecting outwardly to the side of the central frame section at right angles thereto. The whole of the frame can be raised and lowered to lift the ground working implements from the ground. Each of the wing frames is rigid and is formed from a front beam and a rear beam interconnected by inclined beams carrying the active harrow elements. Each wing frame includes a steerable wheel at the outside end. Each wing frame is attached to the central frame by a rear pivot member which allows pivotal movement about a forward horizontal axis and also pivotal movement about a vertical axis for movement to the transport position. A latch is provided adjacent the front beam of the wing frame and is defined by a horizontal pin the axis of which defines the horizontal axis of pivotal movement of the wing frame. The latch pin is held in place within a receptacle of a hook member.

Agricultural frame for propulsion of ground working implements

A ground working implement includes a tool bar and a tool element which can be pulled across the ground by its attachment to the tool bar by a bracket and link system. The link comprises a U-shaped arm with a transverse portion parallel to an axis of rotation of the tool. The transverse portion is carried in a bracket depending from an underside of the tool bar. The transverse portion is formed of a tubular member which has a projecting portion extending radially from the axis of the tubular portion. The projecting portion has two side plates which rub against side plates of the channel to prevent side to side movement of the tool. The tool can raise or lower by rotation of the transverse portion of the channel or by lifting of the transverse portion in the channel within the limits defined by a base plate of the channel or a transverse restraining pin. The tool is latched in a raised position by a latch plate attached to the projecting portion which wedges underneath the base plate of the channel.
