An adsorbent package is provided for mounting to a filter or bleed nipple that is, in turn, attached to a bight tube or other fluid flow conduit in an auto or truck accumulator or receiver dryer. In a preferred form of the invention, a centrally disposed opening is provided in the adsorbent package and is surrounded by a rigid collar. The aperture is dimensioned so that it will be force or snap fit over a flange or the like on a filter.

Snap on desiccant bag

An adsorbent package is provided for mounting to a filter or bleed nipple that is, in turn, attached to a bright tube or other fluid flow conduit in an auto or truck accumulator or receiver dryer. In a preferred form of the invention, a centrally disposed opening is provided in the adsorbent package and is surrounded by a rigid collar. The aperture is dimensioned so that it will be force or snap fit over a flange or the like on a filter.

An adsorbent material containing package is provided for use within the sealed canister of a liquid accumulator for an air conditioning system of the kind in which the suction tube within the canister has spaced upwardly extending legs connected by a bottom bite and in which the bleed opening in the bite is formed as a downwardly extending nipple. The adsorbent material package is formed with substantially identical first and second pouches formed of tubular porous polyester felt material with sealed upper and lower ends containing a quantity of adsorbent material. The pouches making up the package are joined to each other at upper flanges with the junction being located along an extension of a median line through the pouches and leaving the ends of the flanges free of attachment. The transverse width of the pouch flanges exceeds the spacing of the suction tube legs so that the flange end portions are splayed to receive one of the legs therebetween thereby locating the package in relation to the suction tube. The lower ends of the pouches define peripherally sealed openings which are proportioned to be received over the suction nipple for locating the lower ends of the pouches making up the package on the suction tube nipple.

Adsorbent packet for air conditioning accumulators

A cup like, rigid desiccant container and methods for co-molding the container to associated accumulator tubing are disclosed. The container includes an elongated U-shaped slot bounded by upstanding wall surfaces of the housing. A first pair of opposed ridges formed on opposite ones of the walls is provided for snap fitting over an accumulator tube or tube segment. A pair of opposing protuberances is provided on opposite wall surfaces near the circumferential border of the container to provide a second grasping location to snap or friction fit over a second tube or tube segment.

Desiccant container

A container is provided for housing desiccant material therein and for facilitating fluid flow therethrough to a surrounding environment. The container comprises a cup member including a base or bottom wall member and a generally cylindrically shaped outer wall connected to the base or bottom wall member to thereby define a housing. A plurality of openings extend through the outer wall and provide communication between the housing and the surrounding environment. At least one recessed, relief portion is provided in communication with one of the openings. The recessed, relief portion has an outer diameter dimension less than the outer diameter dimension of the cup member. Accordingly, when the cup is snugly received in an associated canister or the like, a relief area is formed that defines a fluid flow channel along the interface of the cup member and canister.

Fluid flow adsorbent container

A container for particulate desiccant comprises a cup and a cap. The cup includes spaced inner and outer wall portions connected by a transverse web portion to define a chamber having an opening for receiving the desiccant. The cap is designed for receipt in the chamber to cover the opening. In addition, the cap has a hole for receiving the inner wall portion of the cup. The inner wall portion includes a stepped inner surface defining an intermediate flange for preventing a canister pipe from passing completely through the inner wall portion. The inner wall portion also includes a beveled inner end surface which tapers radially inwardly in a direction toward the transverse web portion to facilitate insertion of the canister pipe into the inner wall portion. An inner wall extension portion is coaxially joined with the inner wall portion at a web side of the cup to facilitate return of dehydrated air or fluid to an air conditioning system. The canister pipe, inner wall portion and inner wall extension portion cooperate to define a return passage for the dehydrated air or fluid that passes over the desiccant in the chamber.

A container for particulate desiccant includes a cup and a curved cap. The cup includes spaced inner and outer wall portions connected by a transverse web portion to define a chamber having an opening. The outer wall portion of the cup includes a number of nib segments which are arranged into axially spaced-apart nib groupings. The nib segments within each of the nib groupings are circumferentially spaced-apart. The cap is designed for receipt in the chamber to cover the opening. The cap bends symmetrically upwardly about an axis to define two peripheral high points spaced approximately 180.degree. apart, and two peripheral low points spaced approximately 180.degree. apart. In addition, the cap has a hole for receiving the inner wall portion of the cup. In an assembled state, the cap is detained between a first nib grouping and a second nib grouping such that the peripheral high points abut the first nib grouping and the peripheral low points abut the second nib grouping.

Desiccant container having curved cap member

A container for particulate desiccant comprises a cup and a cap. The cup includes spaced inner and outer wall portions connected by a transverse web portion to define a chamber having an opening. The cap is designed for receipt in the chamber to cover the opening. In addition, the cap has a hole for receiving the inner wall portion of the cup. According to one embodiment, the inner wall portion includes an integral detent formed therein and positioned to detain the cap in place. The cap has a peripheral surface adapted to rest on a shoulder formed along the inner surface of the outer wall portion of the cup to detain the cap in place. The outer wall of the cup has a resilient flange member that protrudes outwardly from the cup. This flange is adapted to provide snug, friction fit of the cup within a fluid flow housing such as an air conditioner accumulator or the like.

An adsorbent package that is resistant to high temperature. The package comprises a bag that contains adsorbent, and a foil wrapping that is disposed about a portion of the bag, with the foil wrapping having a first side that is disposed adjacent the bag and is laminated with a heat sealing material via which the foil wrapping is connected to the material of the bag.
