A latching mechanism for mounting on a closure, such as a storm door. The mechanism includes an inside housing with a latch movably mounted on the inside housing and including a tongue movable between a latching position for engaging the striker plate defining the doorway, and an unlatching position in which the tongue permits opening of the door. An operating shaft extends through the closure and the inside housing and is pivotally mounted with respect to them. Inside and outside operators are mounted on the shaft. A cam is rotatable with the shaft and is axially slidable with respect to the shaft between an operative position in which the cam is located to move the tongue toward its unlatching position, and an inoperative position in which rotation of the cam does not cause movement of the tongue. The latching mechanism further includes a slide lock for movement by the operator between a locking position in which the slide causes the cam to be placed in its inoperative position and an unlocking position in which the cam is permitted to be in its operative position. The slide includes an abutment which, when the slide is in its locking position, is in alignment with the tongue to positively prevent the tongue from moving to its unlatching position, thereby providing a dead bolt function.

A nozzle tip trimmer adapted for use between a manually actuated caulking gun handle and trigger assembly having a shaped body with a curved contour along one edge and a pivot adjacent one end of the curved contour. A cutting edge is disposed along a second edge of the shaped body opposite from the curved contour and a detent is carried by the body for selective engagement with predetermined positions on the caulking gun handle. The shaped body is pivoted on a shaft remote from the trigger pivot and is preferably formed with a recess providing a curved finger engaging portion adjacent the end of the curved contour opposite from the pivot and adapted for moving the shaped body about the pivot to displace the detent from one position to an adjacent position on the caulking gun handle.

A door with a pivot hinge which can be mounted to a frame with a pair of L-shaped brackets and which includes an insert comprising a nylon bushing that is mounted into the edge of the door and is adapted to receive a pivot pin mounted on the L-shape bracket. The door is mounted to a hinge Z-bar which is provided with an arcuate portion so as to allow the door to pivot and the door can be swung from either side by inserting the bushing and pivot pins on either side.

A cash box for paper currency has an opening therein through which a bill can be introduced into that cash box to form part of a stack of paper currency within that cash box. A closure is movable away from that opening to an open position to permit a bill to be introduced through that opening and stacked; and that closure is movable to a closed position adjacent that opening to prevent the removal of paper currency from that stack of paper currency. A latch for the closure permits the closure to be moved between the open and the closed positions; and the latch will, whenever that closure has been moved to open position and then to closed position, thereafter automatically prevent unauthorized movement of that closure out of closed position.

Cash box for paper currency

Positioning surfaces and complementary surfaces on the walls and frame of a coin handling device partially restrain and position those walls. Positioning surfaces and complementary surfaces on a coin dispensing sub-assembly and on the frame partially restrain and position that sub-assembly. A gate adjacent the outlet of a passageway, which is defined by two of the walls, can hold a coin and selectively direct that coin toward a coin return chute or a cash box chute while simultaneously preventing the exiting of any further coins in that passageway. Subsequently, that gate can receive and hold the next of those further coins, and then selectively direct that coin to the coin return chute or to the cash box chute. Coin slides in the coin dispensing sub-assembly are confined for reciprocal movement; and they have gears adjacent them which are axially translatable into and out of engagement with those slides to drive those slides. Any desired gear can selectively engage and drive its slide while the other gears are permitted to remain out of engagement with their slides. A selector motor can select the gear which is to be translated to drive its slide. That selector motor also moves the gate relative to the passageway. A coin reservoir has an entrance adjacent the upper end thereof and an entrance adjacent the lower end thereof; and a deflector can be disposed in different fixed positions to cause coins to be directed toward the upper entrance or toward the lower entrance.

Coin handling device

A coin separating device has a movable coin director which is mounted intermediate an inlet for coins of different predetermined diameters and a plurality of outlets that are generally in register with each other but that are located in separate planes. That coin director responds to the reception thereby of a coin of one of those predetermined diameters to be in a position to direct that coin to one of those outlets; and that coin director responds to the reception thereby of a further coin of another of those predetermined diameters to be in a different position to direct that further coin to another of those outlets.

Coin separating device

A coin-handling device responds to coins of at least three different values to establish corresponding credits on a movable credit-establishing element. A switch is closed in response to the insertion of each of those coins; and that switch energizes an electromechanical actuator to effect advancement of that credit-establishing element. Only that switch, that actuator, and the mechanical elements associated therewith are needed to effect the establishing of those corresponding credits.

Coin-handling device

A coin-moving member adjacent a coin-holding tube has a surface which can engage one part of the periphery of the end-most coin. Each endmost coin defines a plane perpendicular to the axis of the coinholding tube; and a connection between a coin-moving member and a source of motive power is intermediate that plane and the opposite end of the coin-holding tube. As the source of motive power moves the coin-moving member to dispense a coin, an axially-directed component of force will develop between the coin-engaging surface of the coin-moving member and the periphery of that coin; and that axially-directed component of force will be directed toward the opposite end of the coin-holding tube, and it will hold that coin-engaging surface in tight engagement with the periphery of that coin. During the returning movement of the coin-moving member, a spring causes a lever to apply a light pressure to the coin-moving member to urge the coin-engaging surface into engagement with the lower face of the next-to-be-dispensed coin; but that light pressure does not create much friction between that coin-engaging surface and that lower face.

Coin-dispensing device

A fishing rod holder having a pair of spacially displaced rod supporting yokes. One yoke has a pair of relatively fixed jaws and the other yoke has a pair of relatively movable jaws. The fixed jaws are mounted on a lever which acts to close the movable jaws about the rod when the rod is in the position to be held. The holder also has a pair of pivot points which enable adjustment of the position of the fishing rod in two mutually perpendicular directions.
