A device is provided for adjusting the thermal current of a bimetallic strip thermal tripping device and a protection switch including such a device, said adjustment device including a graduated wheel accessible from outside the switch box and having inner toothing; a flange centered on the wheel, with a member meshing with the toothing of the wheel, and formed with an excentric groove; a tumbler rotated through a finger engaged in the groove of the flange; a hook mounted for pivoting about a pin fixed with respect to the case; and a lever mounted for pivoting by means of a pin on the hook and connected to the tumbler by a stud, the lever being positionable with respect to the bimetallic strip at a given distance depending on the value of the thermal tripping current.

The apparatus of the invention comprises a case housing a fixed contact and a mobile contact carried by a pivoting lever, with resilient return to the closure position, a rocking lever adapted for acting on the pivoting lever in the opening direction in response to an electric fault and a manual control member connected to the pivoting lever. A single spring exerts on the pivoting lever a first torque in the closure direction and on a drive piece blockable by the rocking lever a force adapted to generate on the lever a second torque antagonistic to and greater than the first one. With the manual control member a third torque antagonistic to and greater than the first one is exerted on the pivoting lever.

Protective switch

In a manual switch with thermal and magnetic release, the fixed pivots of a control member, of a latch, and of a transmission member coupled to the contacts, are disposed at the apices of a right-angled triangle, one side bounding the right angle being parallel to the direction of actuation of the control member and to the movement of the contacts, the other side bounding the right angle being placed in the vicinity of the control member.
