A luminaire includes a support positioned in a ceiling. A light module is connected to the support having a base, a light emitter, and an optic. The light modules allow different luminaire configurations to be formed out of similar components.

A light fixture assembly includes a housing having an interior surface, a ballast mounted on the interior surface of the housing, a first reflector releasably coupled to the interior surface of the housing, the ballast being substantially enclosed between the housing and the first reflector when the first reflector is in a first, closed position and being exposed when the first reflector is in a second, open position spaced from at least a portion of the interior surface, a lens releasably coupled to the housing, the first reflector being substantially enclosed between the lens and the housing when the lens is in a first, closed position and substantially exposed when the lens is in a second, open position. This construction provides relatively easy and quick access to the ballast for replacement and from below the fixture if it is mounted in or on the ceiling.

An LED architectural luminaire for providing the lighting characteristics of a fluorescent luminaire comprises an LED mounting plate having angled sides for mounting strips of LEDs to allow the LEDs to illuminate the entire face of the luminaire to achieve bat-wing light distribution and a favorable spacing criteria of about 1.5.

Lighting fixtures having adjustable components configured to accommodate the application of force (e.g., from a moving patient bed) are provided. In one example embodiment, a lighting fixture can include a housing configured to house a light source. The lighting fixture can include a mounting bracket configured to attach with the housing to secure the housing to a surface. The mounting bracket can include a guide mechanism. The guide mechanism can define a guide channel. The housing is attachable to the mounting bracket such that at least a portion of the housing can move relative to the mounting bracket along the guide channel of the guide mechanism when a force is applied to the housing.

A low profile lighting assembly includes a lighting fixture and a remote ballast housing mounted on a ceiling grid. The ballast housing encloses emergency ballast provides emergency power to the lighting fixture in the event of a power outage. The ballast housing can enclose a fluorescent ballast connected to one or more fluorescent lamps of the lighting fixture. The emergency ballast is recessed with respect to the top end of the ceiling grid to provide a low profile structure. Inclined side walls of the emergency ballast provide easy connection of the wiring harness and power cable to the emergency ballast while maintaining the low profile structure.

Remote ballast assembly

An end cap for a lighting fixture including an end wall that has a periphery, an outer surface, and an inner surface opposite the outer surface that is adapted to engage the lighting fixture. A tongue element extends from the outer surface in a first direction along the periphery of the end wall. A groove element is disposed along the periphery of the end wall and is open at the outer surface of the end wall. A suspension element extends from the inner surface of the periphery of the end wall. The suspension element extends in a second direction opposite the first direction of the tongue element. The tongue and groove elements of the end cap are adapted to engage tongue and groove elements of another substantially identical end cap of another lighting fixture.

A parabolic louver and side light seal are disclosed for use in an overhead lighting system. The parabolic louver comprises a series of ultra-thin, lightweight stringers and baffles arranged perpendicular to one another and securely connected via &ldquo;snap-fit&rdquo; side and center joints. The side light seal comprises two side rails and two end rails. The two side rails are mounted to the sides of the parabolic louver to reinforce the louver, to provide a light seal, and to precisely locate the louver below the light source.
