An information handling system detects a transition of a signal from a magnetic sensor, wherein the transition of the signal indicates a change of a lid of the information handling system from a first state to a second state. The system may determine an angle of the lid based on information from an inertial sensor, and confirm whether the lid is at the second state based on the determined angle of the lid. In response to a confirmation that the lid is at the second state, the system may perform a power sequence.

A method for forming an information handling system may include mechanically coupling a first assembly to a second assembly via one or more hinges and mechanically coupling a plurality of rotational capacitors to one or both of the first assembly or the second assembly. Each particular rotational capacitor may include a fixed stator plate configured to remain fixed relative to the first assembly when the second assembly is rotated relative to the first assembly and a rotating rotor plate configured to rotate about an axis of the one or more hinges in synchronization with the second assembly when the second assembly is rotated relative to the first assembly, such that an overlap between the fixed stator plate and the rotating rotor plate varies as the second assembly is rotated relative to the first assembly, thus varying a capacitance of the particular rotational capacitor as the second assembly is rotated relative to the first assembly.

Systems and methods for determining hinge angle position in an information handling system

A virtual, augmented, or mixed reality (xR) session is hosted in a physical environment. Physiological measurements of an individual wearing a Head-Mounted Device (HMD) are captured while the individual participates in the xR session. An environmental context of the xR session is determined based on measurements of environmental properties of the physical environment. Physiological states of the individual are determined based on the physiological data. Multiple physiological states may be determined by independent chains that evaluate independent physiological data streams. The environmental context and the physiological states are combined, according to data fusion techniques such as algebraic voting, to determine a physiological classification of the individual. The xR session is modified based on the physiological user classification.

Enhancing virtual reality with physiological sensing

Systems and methods for providing a tamper-proof, dual-boot Information Handling System (IHS) having Operating System (OS)-specific hardware and/or firmware components. In some embodiments, a method may include: producing, by an Embedded Controller (EC) of an IHS, a Real-Time Clock (RTC) battery-powered General-Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) control or external latch; applying the RTC battery-powered GPIO control to a chip select circuit; and selecting, via the chip select circuit: (i) a first flash memory configured to boot the IHS into a diagnostic mode or first OS, or (ii) a second flash memory configured to boot the IHS into a native OS.

In one or more embodiments, a display device may display information via light emissions via a first orientation, and an anisotropic material, of the display device, may obscure the information along a first axis of the display device and within a first threshold angle. In one or more embodiments, it may be determined that the first orientation changes to a second orientation, and in response, the anisotropic material may obscure the information along a second axis of the display device and within a second threshold angle. In one or more embodiments, the anisotropic material may permit information along the first axis of the display device to be viewed by a person. In one or more embodiments, determining that the first orientation changes to the second orientation may be based at least on data from at least one of an electronic accelerometer, an electronic gyroscope, and an electronic magnetometer.

In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include a processor and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory including program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the processor, cause the IHS to: classify an audio environment; adjust an audio output gain setting based upon the classification; as a user changes position with respect to the IHS, monitor a distance between the user and the IHS; and modify the adjusted audio output gain setting based upon the monitoring, such that the modification causes a constant sound pressure level to be maintained at the user's position.
