Various implementations include audio devices and methods for noise reduction control in wearable audio devices and/or vehicle audio systems. Certain implementations include a non-occluding wearable audio device having: at least one electro-acoustic transducer; at least one microphone; and a control system coupled with the at least one electro-acoustic transducer and the at least one microphone, the control system programmed to: adjust an active noise reduction (ANR) setting for audio output to the at least one electro-acoustic transducer in response to detecting use of the non-occluding wearable audio device in a vehicle.

Active noise reduction control for non-occluding wearable audio devices

A heat exchanger with a monocoque structure transfers heat between a first fluid and a second fluid. The heat exchanger has a plurality of tubes through which the first fluid may flow in a direction, each of the plurality of tubes has a first mouth end, an opposing second mouth end and a waist region between the first mouth end and the second mouth end. The heat exchanger also has one or more intercom1ected fluid challllels through which the second fluid may flow. the one or more fluid chamlels lay generally in a plane, the plurality of tubes and the one or more fluid channels interleave such that heat may be transferred between the plurality of tubes and the one or more fluid challllels, and the direction of flow of the first fluid is generally perpendicular to the plane of the one or more fluid chamlels.

Monocoque shell and tube heat exchanger

An acoustic device with an open audio device structure that is configured to be carried on the head or upper torso of a user, a housing carried by the open audio device structure, the housing having opposed first and second ends, a flat diaphragm in the housing and comprising a front face and a rear face, the diaphragm configured to radiate front acoustic radiation from its front face and rear acoustic radiation from its rear face, wherein the front and rear acoustic radiations are out of phase, structure that supports the diaphragm such that the diaphragm can move relative to the housing, a primary magnet adjacent to the rear face of the diaphragm, a magnetic circuit that defines a path for magnetic flux of the primary magnet, a voice coil that is exposed to the magnetic flux and is configured to move the diaphragm up and down along a radiation axis that is normal to the front face of the diaphragm, and first and second sound-emitting outlets in the housing, wherein the first sound-emitting outlet is in or proximate the first end of the housing and is acoustically coupled to the front face of the diaphragm so as to emit front acoustic radiation into an acoustic space, and wherein the second sound-emitting outlet is in or proximate the second end of the housing and is acoustically coupled to the rear face of the diaphragm so as to emit rear acoustic radiation into the same acoustic space.

Acoustic device

A heat exchanger with a monocoque structure transfers heat between a first fluid and a second fluid. An eyeglass headphone with a frame that is constructed and arranged to be carried by the head of a wearer, the frame comprising a bridge that is adapted to be supported by the wearer's nose, and a left temple and a right temple that extend rearwardly from the bridge, toward the left and right ears of the wearer, respectively, and a dipole loudspeaker built into the frame, where the dipole loudspeaker comprises a driver that emits front-side acoustic radiation from its front side, and emits rear-side acoustic radiation from its rear side. The frame comprises at least first and second sound-emitting openings, wherein the first sound-emitting opening is constructed and arranged to emit front-side acoustic radiation and the second sound-emitting opening is constructed and arranged to emit rear-side acoustic radiation.

There are first and second openings in the basket. The first and second basket openings are both configured to receive one of the front side acoustic radiation and rear side acoustic radiation. The first opening is spaced from the second opening. The first opening has a greater acoustic resistance than the second opening.

Electro-acoustic transducer for open audio device

An acoustic device that is adapted to be worn on the body of a user. The acoustic device has an array of acoustic transducers comprising at least three acoustic radiating surfaces, and a controller that is adapted to provide array control signals that independently control the relative phases and amplitudes of each of the transducers.

An apparatus includes an enclosure capable of receiving a transducer for converting electrical signals into audible signals. The apparatus also includes one or more structures within the enclosure defining one or more channels, each channel having one end located within the enclosure and another end that is external to the enclosure. The apparatus also includes an acoustic resistive element located in the one of the one or more structures, the acoustic resistive element being capable of changing the acoustic characteristics of at least one of the one or more channels within the enclosure.

An apparatus includes an enclosure capable of receiving an array of transducers for converting electrical signals into steered audible signals. The apparatus also includes one or more structures within the enclosure defining a port having one end located within the enclosure and another end that is external to the enclosure. The apparatus also includes an acoustic resistive element located in the one of the one or more structures, the acoustic resistive element being capable of reducing effects of the acoustic characteristics of the port for audible signals being produced by the array of transducers.
