A wellbore cleanout system including a first tubular, and a pump member including a stator and a rotor. The stator has a first end, a second end, an outer surface, and an inner surface defining an internal passage. The rotor is arranged within the internal passage and includes a first end portion connected to the first tubular and a second end portion. The rotor is coupled for rotation with the first tubular. A drag system including at least one drag member is fixedly mounted to the outer surface of the stator. A second tubular is connected to the second end of the rotor. The second tubular is coupled for rotation with the first tubular.

Downhole pump for wellbore cleanouts

A tubular string is run into a wellbore with a remotely actuated valve near a lower end adjacent a cementing shoe. The valve is triggered to operate without intervention such as by mud pulses generated at the surface and recognized by a sensor linked to a processor adjacent the valve to trigger the valve to close. Alternative actuation systems are envisioned for the valve that is located near the cementing shoe.

Casing or liner barrier with remote interventionless actuation feature

An assembly for use to cement an uncased wellbore and create a sidetrack of a wellbore with a single trip into the wellbore. The assembly includes a mill selectively connected to a whipstock. A snorkel tube is positioned within a bore of the mill and within a bore of the whipstock. The assembly is connected to drill string and positioned within an openhole portion of the wellbore. After the assembly has been anchored, cement may be pumped down the drill string and through the snorkel tube. The mill may be removed from the whipstock by shearing a shearable device connecting the mill to the whipstock. The mill is used engage a diverting surface on the whipstock and create a sidetrack. The mill may also mill a portion of the snorkel tube or the snorkel tube may be removed from wellbore up the drill string prior to milling the sidetrack.

Single trip cement thru open hole whipstick

The present invention is a method and apparatus for a one trip completion of fluid production wells. A completion tool string includes a pressure activated cementing valve, an external casing packer, a pressure activated production valve, an opening plug and a plug landing collar and a closing plug and seat. This tool series is assembled near the end of a production tube string upstream of the well production screen.

Zero drill completion and production system

A method and associated equipment are disclosed which allow drilling at least a portion of a well and subsequently cementing casing in a single trip. The method is particularly suited for deep-water offshore operations where the drill string can be run through a section of casing leaving a bit and an under-reamer extending out below. The casing is equipped with ports through which cement can be pumped as well as an external casing packer to prevent the uncured cement in the annulus from U-tubing. Several casing sections can be run in during drilling and cemented succession using the one trip method.

Drilling and cementing casing system

A packer element has a biasing member incorporated with it. The element is either fabricated with the biasing element in a relaxed condition and then the element is stretched prior to insertion downhole or the element is created around the stressed biasing member and is held in that position until allowed to relax downhole. In either event the release of the element increases its diameter while shortening its length. Preferably, an advancing swage triggers the release to allow the element to expand as much as it can go or to the maximum relaxed diameter, whichever is larger. The swage then, preferably, drives the relaxed element toward the borehole wall or the casing.

Expansion set packer with bias assist

A tool for capturing and retaining a pump down plug or ball which has been released from equipment above in a well bore, concealing the pump down plug from subsequent flow of fluid or other material through the tool, and diverting flow from a normal circulation port toward a bypass port through the tool. The pump down plug seats in, and closes, the circulation port, where the pump down plug is then retained by a tubular receptacle. Increased fluid pressure then shears the tool body loose from its housing, moving it downward to a position lower in the housing. This opens the path through which the pump down plug was released from above. A further pressure increase can be used to open the bypass port through the tool body. When the tool body is released from its first position, a diverter can close over the tubular receptacle and divert movement of fluid and other material away from the area of the circulation port and toward the bypass port.

Plug concealment and diversion tool

Apparatus for a one trip completion of fluid production wells. A completion tool string includes a pressure activated cementing valve, an external casing packer, a pressure activated production valve, an opening plug and a plug landing collar and a closing plug and seat. This tool series is assembled near the end of a production tube string upstream of the well production screen.

A completion technique to replace cementing casing, perforating, fracturing, and gravel packing with an open hole completion is disclosed. Each zone to be isolated by the completion assembly features a pair of isolators, which are preferably tubular with a sleeve of a sealing material such as an elastomer on the outer surface. The screen is preferably made of a weave in one or more layers with a protective outer, and optionally an inner, jacket with openings. The completion assembly can be lowered on rigid or coiled tubing which, internally to the completion assembly, includes the expansion assembly. The expansion assembly is preferably an inflatable design with features that provide limits to the delivered expansion force and/or diameter. A plurality of zones can be isolated in a single trip.

Expandable packer isolation system

An annulus collar around a well production tube is cast in cement by a procedure that axially delineates the collar between two expandable well packers in the production tube string. Between the packers are a pair of cementing valves. An ingress valve is most proximate to the lower packer whereas an egress valve is most proximate to the upper packer. Additionally, the egress valve is modified to enclose the egress valve with a screen having mesh or slot openings that correspond with a screen plugging material that is mixed with the cement.

Positive indication system for well annulus cement displacement

An apparatus and method for the completion of wells through a production tube includes a tool body having cement flow ports and pressure displaced port closure elements. A perforated mandrel tube concentrically aligned within the production tube is secured to said tool body at its upper end. Concentrically within the mandrel tube is a dart transport tube. The dart transport tube is releasably secured to the tool body by a set of locking dogs. A first dart plug is placed in the production tubing bore at the well surface to be pumped or allowed to gravitate onto a closure seat in the lower end of the of the transport tube. This seat closure allows the production tubing to be pressurized for setting well annulus packers and opening of a cement port closure sleeve. After the production tube has been set by cement pumped down the production tubing bore and through the cement flow port, a second dart plug is positioned atop the cement column in the production tube. A pumped column of water or other well working fluid sweeps most of the production tube cement column into the well annulus and lower end of the transport tube. The second dart plug lands against an upper bore seat in the transport tube to enable another pressure increase in the production tube fluid column. This next pressure increase shifts a sleeve piston that closes the cement flow ports and releases the transport tube locking dogs. With the locking dogs released, the transport tube falls to the end of the perforated mandrel and opens the mandrel perforations to formation fluid flow from the screens into the production tube bore. Residual cement remaining in the tube bore is all displaced into the transport tube and removed from the production flow path without drilling.

Well completion method and apparatus

The invention is a well fluid production valve that is positioned downhole in a closed condition below an upper formation packer. The valve comprises a cylindrical mandrel having central bore flow connection with the upper bore of well fluid production tubing and coaxially aligned within the lower bore of the production tubing string. Flow port apertures through the mandrel wall provide well fluid flow paths between the mandrel O.D. and the bore I.D. of the lower production tubing. These flow ports are covered to close the valve by a sliding sleeve around the mandrel O.D. The sliding sleeve is spring biased to the open position but also secured at the closed valve position by an annular piston actuated sear mechanism. Actuation pressure for opening the valve to admit a flow of well fluids from the production zone is a predetermined differential between the well pressure above the packer, usually a function of the well depth, and the operator controlled pressure within attached production tubing. The formation pressure, which may be more or less than the corresponding head pressure, is isolated from the valve actuator and therefore does not contribute to the valve actuating pressure. A fluid pressure conduit is provided that transmits fluid pressure from a well annulus zone above the upper formation packer down past the packer to the upper face of the annular piston within an annular valve actuation cylinder. Production tubing bore pressure is routed to bear upon the lower face of the annular piston. Sufficient pressure differential on the annular piston displaces the sear piston from the sleeve holding position with the sear piston removed. The standing spring bias on the sleeve slides it along the mandrel O.D. to open the flow ports.
