A microwave pulse power switching system comprised of a pulse power switcher and a microwave circulator is interposable between a pulse power source and a pulse power receiver such as an accelerator. The pulse power switcher and microwave circulator are configured to allow switching of the pulse power delivered to the pulse power receiver while isolating the pulse power receiver from the pulse power source.

Microwave pulse power switching system for reflective and resonant loads

In a waveguide system that includes a bifurcated ferrite loaded waveguide section, the waveguide used for at least the bifurcated ferrite loaded waveguide section, and preferably the waveguides for each of the other components of the waveguide system, is provided in the form of an aluminum waveguide part, or a part of another material having comparable properties, most suitably in the form of an aluminum casting. The aluminum part is either entirely or at least partially copper plated and preferably includes aluminum waveguide flanges.

Waveguide system and the manufacturability thereof

A tunable power absorbing termination for a waveguide transmission line includes a section of waveguide having a front power feed end, a back power extracting end, and guidewalls extending between the front and back end thereof. A coolant circulating dielectric taper extends into the section of waveguide in an inclined orientation relative to a guidewall of the section of waveguide such that the point end of the taper extends substantially to the front power feed end of the waveguide section. The inclined orientation of the dielectric taper creates a free volume of space adjacent the taper behind the front power feed end of the waveguide section into which a tuner element is introduced which is position adjustable within the free volume of space to provide the power absorbing termination with a tuning capability.

Tunable power absorbing termination for a waveguide transmission line

A microwave pulse power switching system includes a waveguide switching section having stacked reduced height waveguides, wherein microwave pulse power introduced into a first port of the waveguide switching section is divided between and propagates through the stacked reduced height waveguides. At least one and preferably both of the stacked reduced height waveguides of said waveguide switching section are loaded with a non-reciprocal ferrite material. A magnetic field switching circuit, which can include electromagnets and a bifurcating web plate of the waveguide switching section, produces a switchable static magnetic field in the ferrite loaded reduced height waveguides. Actuation of the magnetic field switching circuit will cause pulse power that emerges from the second port of the waveguide switching section to be changed or 'switched' relative to the pulse power introduced into the first port of the waveguide switching section.

The invention comprises cutting blades useful for cutting tape in packaging processes and cutting assemblies or bag sealing assemblies using the blades. Generally, the blades comprise a support and a plurality of teeth attached to the support wherein a first set of a plurality of the teeth defining a flat tip are positioned on the support between a second set of a plurality of the teeth defining a sharp tip and a third set of a plurality of the teeth defining a sharp tip.

An rf pulse compressor has a single high Q cavity resonator fed by a four port hybrid coupler which is connected to the resonator at coupling ports located at the intersection of two of the resonator's orthogonal axes with the resonator cavity walls. The hybrid coupler divides pulse power from an rf pulse power source and excites two space and phase orthogonal modes in the single cavity, the stored energy of which aids in producing compressed pulses at the output of the hybrid. On-axis perturbations in the cavity walls can be used to lock the orthogonal orientation of the modes excited in the cavity.

A portable waterslide device includes a plurality of interconnected pivotal sections situated at an end-to-end pattern. The sinusoidal top surface further includes a plurality of spray valves. The portable waterslide device further includes a plurality of motorized discharge nozzles operably coupled to the plurality of spray valves. The portable waterslide device further includes a plurality of equidistantly spaced egress points and a threaded ingress point in fluid communication with a conduit positioned on a rear surface of the portable waterslide device. The portable waterslide device further includes a vertically adjustable pedestal member directly attached to the sliding board, a vertically adjustable ladder operably coupled to the vertically adjustable pedestal member, and a plurality of sensors communicatively coupled to the plurality of spray valves of the sliding board.

Dual mode single cavity pulse compressor and method

A microwave pulse compressor has an elongated, cross-sectionally oversized waveguide resonator for decreasing the attenuation of the resonator, thereby increasing the resonator's QThe increased Q of the resonator guide results in more stored energy and greater output pulse power. The pulse compressor is constructed to suppress high order modes that can be generated in oversized waveguides. The higher order modes are suppressed by any means, including, separately or in combination, the input coupling design, choice of the resonator length, and the design of the output coupling structures. In one alternative aspect of the invention, the switch at the switch-out end of the waveguide resonator is a plasma switch, employing at least one dielectric window positioned in the resonator guide to have minimum effect on the resonator Q. The dielectric window contains a relatively large volume of a switch gas at low pressure within a switching section of the resonator guide at the guide's switch-out end. A static magnetic field can be provided for confining the plasma produced upon triggering to the region which produces the most effective switching action.

A high power absorbing waveguide termination for a microwave transmission line has a power receiving end with a waveguide input port, an oversize waveguide section, and a transforming waveguide section for connecting the waveguide input port to the oversize waveguide. A dielectric taper disposed in the oversize waveguide section has a fluid passage therethrough to allow fluid, most suitably water, to sweep the taper and absorb microwave power introduced into the oversized waveguide section. Fluid is suitably fed into and extracted from the dielectric taper via a manifold end block at the back end of the oversize waveguide section. The taper is inclined relative to the center axis of the oversize waveguide section so as to position the point end of the taper in a region of very low electric field strength for the oversize waveguide section's fundamental mode. A power monitoring probe is optionally provided at the input port of the waveguide termination.

High power absorbing waveguide termination for a microwave transmission line

A wake-up circuit and associated method for use in an alarm system hidden in a currency resembling security pack. The alarm system includes an alarm device and an electronic alarm activation circuit that actuates the alarm device upon receipt of an alarm actuation signal. The wake up circuit includes a flexure sensor used to detect flexure of the security pack and upon sensing such flexure to switch the electronic alarm activation circuit from a first, dormant state to a second, active state.

A three port distributed waveguide circulator has a hybrid coupler section connected to a waveguide section which is bifurcated by a central web plate to produce reduced height stacked waveguides and which is loaded with a distributed non-reciprocal ferromagnetic material for producing relative phase shifting of the microwave power traveling through the reduced height guides. In one embodiment, the coupler output is stepped down to the reduced height waveguides by a stepped transformer between the output of the hybrid coupler and the bifurcated input end of the bifurcated waveguide section. Alternatively, a tapered transformer is provided. A static magnetic circuit is provided for producing transverse static magnetic fields in the reduced height waveguides necessary for the distributed ferromagnetic material to exhibit non-reciprocal properties. The ferromagnetic material in the reduced height waveguides of the bifurcated waveguide is preferably in the form of ferromagnetic strips which are secured to the outer broadwalls of the bifurcated guides and which are cooled by cooling tubes running along the outside of the broadwalls.

Distributed three port stacked waveguide circulator

A waveguide seal assembly for a waveguide joint is fabricated in separate parts, including a relatively small inner conductive part for surrounding the coupled waveguide openings in the joined waveguide flanges of two joined waveguide sections, an outer conductive part having a central opening which permits the outer part to fit over the inner part such that an intermediate gap is formed between the inner and outer parts, and a gas sealing element, suitably in the form of an O-ring, fitted into this intermediatex gap. Preferably, an O-ring groove is provided on the outer perimeter of the inner conductive part for retaining the O-ring when the seal assembly is installed. Also, preferably the inner conductive part is slightly thicker than the outer part to ensure good electrical contact at the coupled waveguide openings.

Waveguide seal assembly

A microwave detector (10) is provided for measuring the envelope shape of a microwave pulse comprised of high-frequency oscillations. A biased ferrite (26, 28) produces a magnetization field flux that links a B-dot loop (16, 20). The magnetic field of the microwave pulse participates in the formation of the magnetization field flux. High-frequency insensitive means (18, 22) are provided for measuring electric voltage or current induced in the B-dot loop. The recorded output of the detector is proportional to the time derivative of the square of the envelope shape of the microwave pulse.
