Systems, devices, and methods for kinetic release testing of compounds are discussed herein. Ultrasonic agitation, with resultant cavitation and acoustic streaming, is used to breakdown and release drugs from one or more compounds to form a solution. The system uses small volumes of solvent to increase accessibility and portability of the system. Once dissolved, the solution is passed to a sampling system for calculating kinetic release behavior. The kinetic release behavior can be compared to existing reference data to identify the compound and/or confirm accurate manufacture by comparison of dissolution characteristics of the active ingredients. In some embodiments, streak photography and hydrophone measurements are used to study the effects of system parameters on the acousto-hydrodynamic environment.

Systems, devices, and methods for ultrasonic agitation mediated kinetic release testing of compounds

An acoustical non-contact levitation system and method for eliciting the deformation response of biological samples, coupled with the data analysis to yield quantitative measures of established time-dependent viscoelastic material properties. Embodiments allow for measurement to occur in near-real-time by way of a computer. In use, a biological sample is placed in an acoustic levitator, where it is induced to oscillate, such that material properties of the sample can be observed and analyzed by way of a camera and/or photodiode.

Apparatus, systems and methods for non-contact rheological measurements of biological materials

A technique for measuring pressure of a material directs one or more laser beams at the material (e.g., a pressurized fluid) to create a distribution of electromagnetic field intensity which varies over an intensity range and induces dielectric breakdown in the material. An emission pattern of broadband light from the dielectric breakdown is detected, and a value of a characteristic of the emission pattern (e.g., location of a threshold intensity or of a peak intensity) is processed (e.g., by a computer or similar electronic processor) to generate a pressure measurement signal representing a pressure of the material. Processing typically employs a pre-established calibration function which associates a set of stored values of the characteristic with corresponding known pressures of the material, obtained for example by preceding similar measurements of the same material under conditions of known pressures.
