A curable composition is disclosed. The curable composition comprises (I) an epoxide-functional silicone-acrylate polymer and (II) an aminosiloxane. The epoxide-functional silicone-acrylate polymer comprises acrylate-derived monomeric units comprising siloxane moieties, epoxide-functional moieties, and optionally, hydrocarbyl moieties, and the aminosiloxane comprises an average of at least two amine functional groups per molecule. A method of preparing the curable composition is also disclosed, and includes reacting (A) an acryloxy-functional organosilicon component, (B) an epoxy-functional acrylate component, and optionally (C) an acrylate component, to give the epoxide-functional silicone-acrylate polymer (I), and combining the epoxide-functional silicone-acrylate polymer (I) with the aminosiloxane (II). An aminosiloxane-silicone-acrylate copolymer prepared with the composition, a cured product comprising the same, and methods of preparing the same, are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to an article comprising metal coated with an aqueous dispersion of polyolefin particles as well as metal coated with a polyolefin film arising from this dispersion. A curable coating composition is provided having multi-functionalized acrylic copolymer and silicone imine resin curing agents. The acrylic copolymer of the curable coating composition has, in polymerized form, epoxy functionalized groups and cure compatibility groups and the silicone imine forms an amino-functional silicone in the presence of water. The coating compositions are useful in the field of superior weatherable and durable coatings and are useful to replace isocyanate-containing polyurethane based coatings. Also provided are coated articles produced from the curable composition.

Weatherable and durable coating compositions

A curable coating composition is provided having multi-functionalized acrylic copolymer and amino-functional silicone resin curing agents. The acrylic copolymer of the curable coating composition has, in polymerized form, epoxy functionalized groups and cure compatibility groups. A method for providing a substrate coated with a cured damping coating including: applying a curable liquid damping composition to a substrate, wherein said curable liquid damping composition includes an admixture of certain Michael acceptor(s), certain Michael donor(s), a base catalyst; a rheology modifier; and a solid filler; wherein the filler is a different material than the rheology modifier; wherein the curable damping composition has a PVC of from 20% to 70%; and drying/curing the applied curable damping composition at a temperature of from 0&#xb0; C. to 250&#xb0; C. is provided. Also provided is a substrate coated with the cured damping coating.

The instant invention is an aqueous based blend composition and method of producing the same. The aqueous based blend composition comprises (a) an aqueous polyolefin dispersion comprising the melt blending product of one or more base polymers and one or more stabilizing agents in the presence of water and optionally one or more neutralizing agents, wherein the polyolefin dispersion has an average volume particle size diameter in the range of from 400 to 1500 nm; and a pH range from 8 to 11; and (b) an acrylic emulsion acrylic solids having an average weight particle size diameter in the range of from 75 to 450 nm; an acid level in the range of from 0.25 to 5 percent by weight of acid monomers based on the weight of the acrylic monomer, and a weight average molecular weight in the range of from 200,000 to 5,000,000 g/mole, and a glass transition temperature (T) in the range of from 7 to 100&#xb0; C., wherein said acrylic emulsion has a pH in the range of from 7 to 11; wherein said aqueous based blend composition has a solid content in the range of from 15 to 70 percent by weight of solids, based on the weight of the aqueous based blend composition, and a pH in the range of from 7 to 11.

Aqueous based blend composition and method of producing the same

The present disclosure provides for an aqueous dispersion for use in coating applications. The aqueous dispersion includes an aqueous composition and a solid content of a melt blend product having an acid functionalized polypropylene base polymer, a polypropylene copolymer, an acid functionalized polypropylene wax and an acid functionalized polyolefin. The aqueous dispersion is included in a coating composition, where the coating composition includes the aqueous dispersion, a solvent, a crosslinker and a basic water composition having water and a base. The present disclosure also provides for a coated article having a substrate and a coating on the substrate, where the coating includes the coating composition of the present disclosure.

Coating compositions

An aqueous based blend composition including (a) an aqueous polyolefin dispersion comprising the melt blending product of one or more base polymers and one or more stabilizing agents in the presence of water and optionally one or more neutralizing agents, having an average volume particle size diameter from 400 to 1500 nm, and a pH from 8 to 11; and (b) from 0.1 to 50 percent by weight based on the solid content of the dispersion one or more crosslinking agents is provided.

A waterborne sound and vibration damping composition including a waterborne emulsion polymer, the polymer having a calculated acid number of from 2 to 100; from 0.1% to 50%, solids based on emulsion polymer solids, of certain liquid compounds having a boiling point greater than 150&#xb0; C.; and a solid filler at a level of from 25% to 85% PVC; wherein the waterborne damping composition has a water content of from 6% to 25% by weight is provided. A method for providing a coated substrate using the waterborne damping composition and a substrate so coated are also provided.

A coating composition including a blend of at least two or more epoxy resins, wherein at least one of the epoxy resins comprises (i) a CHDM epoxy resin having less than about 2 wt % total chlorine content; and wherein at least one of the epoxy resins comprises (ii) at least one other epoxy resin other than the epoxy resin in component (i); a curable coating composition including (a) the above blend of epoxy resins and (b) at least one amine curing agent; a thermoset coating product prepared from the above curable composition; and a process for preparing the above compositions and a coating therefrom.

High solids epoxy coatings

An advanced epoxy resin including a reaction product of (A) at least one epoxy resin; (B) at least one cashew nutshell liquid; and (C) at least one multifunctional carboxylic acid; a curable epoxy resin composition prepared using the above advanced epoxy resin; and the use of the above curable epoxy resin composition to prepare a coating.

The present invention provides aqueous polyolefin dispersion compositions for use in metal coatings, such as can coatings, comprising one or more polyolefin base polymer, one or more at least partially neutralized olefinic stabilizing agent having an acid number (AN) of from 80 to 250, preferably, a polyolefin stabilizing agent, such as an olefin-carboxylic acid copolymer or a blend of two such polymers, an optional coupling agent having an acid number (AN) of from 10 to 70 and a melt index of from 500 to 5,000,000 grams of polymer melt passing in 10 minutes through a heated syringe or cylinder at 190&#xb0; C. with a plunger loaded with 2.16 kg, preferably, a polymer, and a hindered phenolic antioxidant containing an ester linkage dispersed in the polyolefin dispersion composition. The hindered phenolic antioxidant containing an ester linkage can be masterbatched with a polyolefin base polymer, polyolefin stabilizing agent or a coupling agent which is a polymer, melt mixed with the remaining polyolefin composition and then dispersed with aqueous media and a neutralizing agent to form the aqueous dispersion.

Water borne polyolefin dispersion coatings, and methods of making

A modified epoxy novolac resin composition including a reaction product of: (a) a novolac epoxy resin compound, (b) a cardanol compound, and (c) a catalyst compound; and a process for preparing the above modified epoxy novolac resin composition such that the composition contains cardanol moieties in a concentration of at least 15 weight percent of the composition.
