An insulative shroud retention wafer for an electrical connector allowing for an optimization of pin placements of the electrical connector is provided. In an illustrative embodiment the shroud retention wafer comprises a first (), second (), third (), and fourth () cylindrical members, each having an axial pin receiving aperture () and an axial center line () extending through the pin receiving aperture (). Furthermore, the cylindrical members maintain at least one protuberance (). In operation, the cylindrical members of the shroud retention wafer couple with pins of the electrical connector to realize an electrical connection. Specifically, the protuberance () causes collapse of the cylinders () allowing for better gripping of pins of the electrical connector. The arrangement of the cylinders () of the shroud retention () wafer maximizes the number of cylindrical members on the wafer allowing for optimization of pin placement.

Shroud retention wafer

An insulative shroud retention wafer for an electrical connector allowing for an optimization of pin placements of the electrical connector is provided. In an illustrative embodiment the shroud retention wafer comprises a first ( ), second ( ), third ( ), and fourth ( ) cylindrical members, each having an axial pin receiving aperture ( ) and an axial center line ( ) extending through the pin receiving aperture ( ). A header for interconnecting electrical components comprises at least one column of conductors interposed between ground planes, wherein the column of conductors comprises at least a first, second and third conductor. The first conductor is a ground line, the second and third conductors are signal lines, and the first conductor is electrically connected to one of the ground planes, wherein the second conductor is positioned in the column in interposed relation between said first and third conductor.

Shielded header

An electrical connector for connecting a daughter and a mother printed wiring board. A receptacle is connected to one board on one face and to the header on the other. The header has a conductive housing with opposed end walls and a medial pin receiving wall where it is connected to the other board. The receptacle housing is electrically connected to the header conductive housing by removable springs extending from the end walls of the header housing and separate removable grounding pins extending to a printed wiring board from the medial wall.

Electrically enhanced modular connector for printed wiring board

A power port terminal formed by stamping from a blank of conductive material comprises a contact receiving socket portion (,) and an integral mounting portion (,). The socket includes a web with a plurality of beams (,) thereon. The inner surface of the beams on the bends thereof define a substantially continuous cylindrical contact surface at a predetermined point along the reference axis of the terminal. The contact surface has a predetermined constricted dimension (,) measured in a plane perpendicular to the reference axis, this dimension being the most constricted dimension along the reference axis of the terminal. The terminal is thereby able to accommodate a pin of any desired axial length. The trailing mounting legs (,) thereon, that in the preferred instance, extend generally perpendicular to the reference axis of the terminal. Latch tabs (,) may be provided on one or more of the beams. There are lateral projections (,) on the mounting portion, which restrain the terminal from pivoting on its longitudinal axis when it is mounted in a through hole (,) in an insulative housing (,).

Assembly tools for mounting a plurality of modules each of which has a pair of retaining features on a surface thereof, wherein the retaining features are spaced a predetermined distance apart, are characterized by an elongated bar member having an array of grasping elements thereon. The grasping elements engage with the retaining features on the modules to hold the individual modules to the bar.

Tool for assembling modular header connectors and modular receptacle

The present invention relates to a tool that is useful for assembling a composite connector from a plurality of individual connectors, mounting the composite connector having a plurality of right angle tails extending therefrom into openings therefor formed in a substrate, and stiffening the substrate to prevent bowing of the same. The tool comprises a body having a plurality of slots therein. The slots are sized appropriately to receive nonremovably the tails of various forms.

High density connector

An electrical connector comprising a header with a plurality of terminal pins having means for retaining the header in position during soldering to a printed circuit board. Retention is accomplished by an offset formed as a crimp at the insertion end of at least one pair of terminals. The crimps exert opposite normal forces against one surface of their respective holes to retain the header during soldering.

A partially pre-assembled electrical connector has metal terminals partially inserted in a housing. The connectors are completed by at least partially withdrawing each terminal from the housing, placing the end of a wire in the exposed portion of the terminal, crimping the terminal on the wire, and then fully inserting the terminal in the housing.
