A cache circuit includes read address registers to store memory addresses of data blocks requested in recent memory read transactions in a memory circuit and write address registers to store memory addresses of the data blocks recently written to the memory circuit. The cache circuit also includes data registers for storing data blocks corresponding to select memory addresses stored in the read address registers and the write address registers based on a pattern of recent memory transactions. The selection of memory addresses for which corresponding data blocks are stored in the data registers is based on a mode count that may be dynamically determined based on the memory addresses accessed in the most recent memory transactions. The mode count depends on whether a requested data block is stored in the data registers and whether the memory address is stored in the read address registers or the write address registers.

The layout is used for responding to user requests and presenting an integrated view of the storage environment on a display device with selectable options for selecting the cluster based storage system components and the non-cluster based storage system components.

Method and system for managing clustered and non-clustered storage systems

Method and system for incremental backup of data containers with fixed length records is provided. Initially, a backup application copies all stored data containers to create an initial backup container. A data structure corresponding to the first backup operation is also created. The data structure maintains unique file identifiers for each data container and information regarding when a record was added. The data structure is created and maintained by an application that also creates, updates, and modifies the fixed length records. The application updates the base data structure when records are added to a data container, after the initial backup. For a next backup operation, the initial data structure is compared to an updated data structure that is current at the next backup time. The comparison identifies the new records that were added (or updated) since the initial backup operation. The backup application then incrementally copies the new records.

Method and system for managing data in storage systems

A system and method for determining differences between configurations of a software program. A configuration differencing command generates a hash table of configuration keys and values for each of the configurations being compared. A key is selected from a first hash table and the command determines if an identical key exists in the second hash table. If the key exists in the second hash table, a comparison is made of the values associated with the keys and, if the values are not identical, the configuration differencing command displays the differences to an administrator.

System and method for determining differences between software configurations

A system and method for automatically upgrading/reverting of the software configurations in a storage system environment among a plurality of product release lines. A configuration upgrade/revert module of a storage system management module identifies a shortest path between an initial configuration and a desired end configuration using a transition table comprising of a plurality of transition functions. The upgrade/revert configuration module invokes the appropriate series of transition functions to modify the software configuration from the initial state to the desired end state.
