Disclosed is a method for providing at least one rich interactive communication service on an electronic device including receiving, by the electronic device, a notification of at least one communication service from at least one server, identifying, by the electronic device, at least one unique identifier of the received at least one communication service based on the notification, determining, by the electronic device, that the identified unique identifier is authenticated, sending, by the electronic device, a request to at least one communication server based on the identified identifier, in response to determining that the identified unique identifier is authenticated, receiving, by the electronic device, at least one rich media for the received at least one communication service from the at least one communication server, responding to the request, and displaying, by the electronic device, the received at least one communication service with the least one rich media.

A method for enabling a network selection during change in a location of a user equipment (UE) comprises of performing an emergency camping on a first PLMN during a change in location of the UE from a first network to a second network in a power ON mode, identifying a mobile country code and a mobile network code of the first available network from a system information block (SIB) detected from the first network during the emergency camping, determine whether a registered public land mobile network (RPLMN) of the UE is same as a network area of the first available network by comparing the identified MCC and MNC with information of a PLMN database stored in the UE, and determining at least one PLMN from a plurality of priority PLMNs of the second network from the PLMN database if the RPLMN is different from the network area of the first available network.

Method and apparatus for enabling a network selection during change in a location of a user device

Methods and apparatus are provided for selecting a serving cell in a communication network for reducing power consumption in a UE, is provided. Network topology information is determined by obtaining cell rank information for the UE, extracting a mobility state of the UE, and applying a double moving average principle to the cell rank information of the UE. The network topology information is employed to determine a change in network topology. Radio Frequency (RF) scans are optimized based on the network topology.

A method and system for identifying the location of a mobile device in a wireless communication network includes identifying Hierarchical Cell Structure (HCS) priority number of a cell in which the mobile device is currently camped. A first positioning method is selected to identify the location of the mobile device when the HCS priority number is greater than a first predefined number, and a second positioning method is selected when the HCS priority number is smaller than a second predefined number. The method also performs a probabilistic method to select a positioning method from the first posting method and the second positioning method when the HCS priority number is between the first predefined number and the second predefined number.

Method for identifying location of mobile device in wireless communication network

Disclosed is a method for handling inter-RAT cell measurement in a dual-mode UE in a connected mode, which supports both GSM/GPRS (Global System for Mobile communication/General Packet Radio Service) RAT (Radio Access Technology) and UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) RAT. A UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network) of the UMTS RAT transmits a measurement control message to a URRC (UMTS Radio Resource Control) of a UMTS network layer in the UE. Upon receiving the measurement control message, the URRC sends a measurement request for GSM cells to an RR/GRR (Radio Resource/GPRS Radio Resource) of a GSM/GPRS network layer. The RR/GRR activates a GSM physical layer and sends a measurement request for the GSM cells to the GSM physical layer. The GSM physical layer performs measurement on the GSM cells and reports a measurement value to the RR/GRR. The RR/GRR reports the measurement value for GSM cells, received from the GSM physical layer, to the URRC. The URRC reports the received measurement value for GSM cells to the UTRAN.

A method for minimizing searching time for a transport format selection in a CDMA communication system including an RLC layer and an MAC layer. The RLC layer entity contains a plurality of logical channels and transmits input data to the MAC layer through a specific logical channel from among the logical channels. The MAC layer contains a plurality of transport channels and transmits the input data to a physical layer through a specific transport channel from among the transport channels. Transport formats are generated for the transport channels, and classified according to sizes of data that can be transmitted by corresponding transport channels. An indicator is provided to each of the transport formats classified according to data size, and a plurality of subset tables are generated. When the data is input to the MAC layer, after the subset tables are generated, a subset table having a same size as the data input to the MAC layer is detected, and a transport format corresponding to a specific indicator is selected.
