A mobile assembly usable in at least one well services operation includes a chassis, a drum disposed on the chassis having a spooled element disposed thereon for use in the at least one well services operation, a winch disposed on the chassis and attached to the spooled element for raising and lowering the spooled element, an elevation device disposed on the chassis and operable to support the spooled element in the at least one well services operation, at least one acquisition system disposed on the chassis in operable communication with a tool disposed on the spooled element, and a prime mover operable to provide power to at least the drum, the winch, and the elevation device.

Mobile well services assembly

A wireline cable winch drum is provided that includes a core having a longitudinal axis; a pair of flanges spaced apart and extending radially outwardly from the core; and a wireline cable wrapped around the core in the space between the flanges. In one embodiment, at least one of the flanges includes an inner surface that contacts the wireline cable and forms an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the core.

A cable which includes conductor bundles prepared from at least one optical fiber positioned either centrally or helically about the center axis of the bundle, metallic conductors helically positioned around the bundles center axis, and a polymeric insulation material. A method of making a cable including forming a conductor bundle by placing helically positioned conductors and optical fibers about the periphery of a central optical fiber or metallic conductor, encasing the conductors, optical fibers, in a polymeric insulation material, and grouping the conductor bundles together.

Optical fiber cables for wellbore applications

A wireline logging assembly includes a cable having primary conductors, secondary conductors, and a central conductor. A first power source excites the primary conductors using a first propagation mode. A first telemetry transceiver excites the primary conductors using a second propagation mode orthogonal to the first mode. A second power source excites the secondary conductors and a second telemetry transceiver excites the central conductor. In one embodiment, the diameter of the primary conductors is greater than a diameter of the secondary conductors. The primary conductor includes four primary conductors symmetrically positioned around the center conductor and the secondary conductors include a secondary conductor positioned in the interstice between each pair of adjacent primary conductors. The first telemetry transceiver is preferably connected to a primary winding of a first transformer while the first power source is connected to center taps of the first and second secondary windings of the first transformer.

Transmitting power and telemetry signals on a wireline cable

A cable includes an electrical conductor, a first insulating jacket disposed adjacent the electrical conductor and having a first relative permittivity, and a second insulating jacket disposed adjacent the first insulating jacket and having a second relative permittivity that is less than the first relative permittivity. A method includes providing an electrical conductor, extruding a first insulating jacket having a first relative permittivity over the electrical conductor, and extruding a second insulating jacket having a second relative permittivity over the electrical conductor, wherein the second relative permittivity is less than the first relative permittivity.
