An apparatus for receiving audio data from a nomadic device is provided. The apparatus comprises a first portable speaker for being operably coupled to the nomadic device. The nomadic device receives first information indicative of a first crossover frequency for the first portable speaker and determines the first crossover frequency based on the first information. The nomadic device transmits the audio data to the first portable speaker in accordance to the first crossover frequency. The first portable speaker is configured to playback the audio data at the first crossover frequency.

Nomadic device for controlling one or more portable speakers

Described herein is an automatic audio enhancement system (AAES) that may locate, via aspects of an electronic device, objects and/or people within a target environment, such as inside a vehicle. The AAES also may change one or more audio output signals based at least on information associated with the location of the objects and/or people. In one example of the AAES, the locating of the objects and/or people may occur in association with operation of a mobile device.

Automatic audio enhancement system

A portable media enhancement device for use with a mobile device for processing one or more media files is provided. The mobile device is located separately from the portable media enhancement device. The portable media enhancement device comprises a docking connection input used to communicate with the mobile device and at least one control module. The control module is configured to establish a connection with the mobile device via the docking connection input and to receive one or more media files from the mobile device. The control module is further configured to decode the one or more media files and post process the one or more media files. The control module is further configured to transmit the decoded and processed media files to the mobile device.

Portable media enhancement device

A computer-program product embodied in a non-transitory computer read-able medium that is programmed for transmitting audio data to at least one output for audio playback. The computer-program product comprises instructions for receiving at least one of a digital image of a target source using a camera, and distance and angle information of the target source entered at a user interface. The computer-program product comprises instructions for generating one or more first coordinates based on the at least one of the digital image and the distance and angle information. The computer-program product comprises instructions for adjusting a sensitivity of a first microphone based on the one or more first coordinates. The computer-program product comprises instructions for receiving audio data from the target source in response to adjusting the sensitivity of the first microphone and transmitting the audio data to one or more outputs for audio playback.

Apparatus and method for enhancing an audio output from a target source

A system may include one or more data modules operable to receive, process, and transmit data associated with one or more audio and/or visual cues from surroundings of a user. The system may also include one or more cameras and one or more microphones communicatively coupled to the one or more data modules, where the one or more cameras and the one or more microphones are operable to: record, respectively, the one or more audio and/or visual cues; and transmit, respectively, the data associated with the one or more audio and/or visual cues to the one or more data modules. Also, the system may include one or more speakers driven by audio signals received from the one or more data modules.

Vehicle safety system using audio/visual cues

A user location system (ULS) can use images, such as video or still images, captured from at least one camera of an electronic device, such as a mobile device, to determine, via at least edge detection and image uniformity analysis, location of a user in an environment, such as in a cabin of a vehicle. The determined location of the user can then be used as an input to control at least one aspect of the environment. In the case of a vehicle, such input may be used to facilitate control of speed, safety features, climate, and/or audio playback, for example.
