A method for improving productivity of a printer with in-line finisher, which includes the steps of: a) storing a sequence of jobs; b) printing the first print job; c) transmitting the printed portions of the first print job to the productivity module; d) unloading the printed portions in sequence from the productivity module and performing a finishing operation on the printed first portion of the first print job; e) during the step d), printing a portion of the second print job; f) transmitting the printed portions of the second print job to the productivity module; g) initiating printing of a second portion of the first print job, concurrent with step d), h) unloading the next printed portions of the first job in sequence from the productivity module and performing a finishing operation on the printed portions of the second print job; and continuing these sequences for the next print job.

Apparatus and method to improve printer productivity

A method of printing personalized variable image requirements by (a) placing all print jobs with similar print image requirements into a particular group, all images for a specific entity in that group being a set; (b) printing images of each set in sequence of arrangement and in cycles, each cycle being a number of images up to the number of storage bins of a printing apparatus used for the print job; (c) storing the printed cycles in the storage bins until all sheets to the sets being stored there are completed; (d) unloading completed sets; repeating steps (b) and (c) if additional sets in the group require printing; (e) ending the print job if all sets for the group have been printed; (f) determining whether a next print job for another group is pending; (g) repeating steps (b)-(g)if a next print job is pending; and (h) ending all print jobs if no print job is pending.

Method of printing variable image requirements

A solid-state selectably switchable combination cascade/magnetic brush for use in toner deposition or removal devices used in imaging machines of the electrostatic or magnetic type having one or more electro-magnets with one or more electro-magnetic windings and transfer heads placed inside, as well as outside, a photoconductor. Imaging mixture is agitated and conveyed to a transfer head which is exposed and adjacent to a photoconductor thereby eliminating the need for a drum or sleeve as the carrier/deposition agent for the imaging mixture. Transfer heads deposit imaging mixture directly onto a primary development zone with the excess cascading and attracting to a residual development zone and/or reclamation structure.

Magnetic brush for use in an electrostatic or magnetic imaging apparatus

A removable, sealable, magnet-less cartridge for use in a reproduction apparatus of the type having a control device to control the apparatus, a photoreceptor to receive toner through a photoreceptor path and to transfer the toner onto imaged portions of the photoreceptor, and a developer transporter of the magnetic type to carry toner in a magnetic brush to the imaged portions of the photoreceptor and to return unspent toner therefrom. The magnet-less cartridge device has a housing adjacent to the developer transporter; a developer mix hopper and a mixer within the housing for holding and mixing toner and a carrier therefor in the form of a developer mix; a scraper at an open end of the housing in communicating adjacency of the developer transporter; and a sealing device including a first movable sealing member, a second movable sealing member, each of which are adjacent to the open end of the housing and in operational communication with the control means to seal the cartridge in a plurality of sealing modes.

Magnet less sealable developer cartridge

An electrically self-propelled pulsating multi-directional magnetic brush having an insert for use in toner deposition or removal devices associated with imaging machines of the electrostatic type (dry or liquid), the magnetic type, and the reprographic type. The insert further has skewed magnetic sections, made of permanent magnets or electro-magnets, therearound. The insert is used in conjunction with a permanent or electro-magnet and is contained within a rotatably mounted drum to provide an insulation for the drum and to further provide a driving force to uniformly rotate and multi-directionally pulsate developer mixture material around the drum.

Multi-directional pulsating magnetic brush

A modular copier/printer or similar image forming apparatus of the type having an image transfer body in the form of a drum or belt allows documents to be reproduced in a paper discharge mode which discharges paper sheets, or recording media, in page-sequential order. When an automatic two-sided copy mode is selected, the apparatus automatically sets up the page sequential paper discharge mode to a 'collation mode' through a minimum number of sorter bins which has been optimally designed to correspond with the shortest two-sided copy loop. Hence, when mixed black-and-white documents and color documents are reproduced together in the automatic copy mode, paper sheets exit the apparatus in the correct page order. As a result of this automatic change in operating modes, fewer 'skip' frames need be introduced during the copying operation, thereby enabling the copier to produce multiple collated copies of the multipage document very efficiently.

Modular multi-function image-forming apparatus for printing mixed sided

An electrically switchable magnetic brush for use in toner deposition or removal devices used in imaging machines of the electrostatic type. When energized by a multiphase alternating current power source or a brushless direct current power source rotatably mounted drum (9) requires no external driving force and is self-propelled.
