The foam support () can be coupled to the frame () for receiving a load on the seat sub-assembly (), dissipating at least half of the load, and dispersing the load through the frame ().

Using foam for structural components of a seat assembly

Described are reclining passenger seats having deployable leg rests coupled to the seat bottom. An actuator, which may be a gas cylinder, spring, or electric motor, moves the deployable leg rest between stowed and deployed positions. A locking mechanism may be used to stabilize the deployable leg rest in the stowed position, the deployed position, or any intermediate position. The coupling of the deployable leg rest to the seat bottom allows for a greater range of movement with a lighter, more compact mechanism.

Integrated deployable leg rest for reclining passenger seats

Passenger seat armrests and consoles have laterally translating armrest doors that open and close to allow for deployment and stowage of tray tables. The armrest doors may be guided through their translation by slides or a linkage that controls their motion. The armrest doors may also translate in two-dimensions, incorporating a vertical translation as well as a lateral translation. The resulting motion allows for better placement of the deployable tray tables within the armrest or console and a reduction in wasted space. The passenger seat armrests may also incorporate cocktail trays that can be integrated into the armrest doors or the armrest or console itself.

Described is a stowable display apparatus () suitable for stowing a display, such as an in-flight entertainment monitor, in a storage module () located above a spreader or a seat bottom of a passenger seat (). The stowable display apparatus can include an arm () pivotally coupled to a mounting plate () at a pivot point () that is located above the spreader or seat bottom and proximate the forward end of the seat (), thus enabling a display bracket of the arm to pivot upwards and out of an armrest assembly before rotating into a deployed position. The display arm () can provide an easy, safe, and low-cost mechanism for stowing and deploying a display. The thin profile of the display arm allows a storage module () two inches wide or less to stow both a display and a table surface, each independently deployable and stowable irrespective of the other's position.

Described herein are personal electronics device mounting assemblies including a passenger seat and a case assembly comprising a case configured to receive a personal electronic device and a male structure pivotally coupled to the case. The personal electronic device mounting assemblies may also include a mounting assembly comprising a female slot structure and a support bracket structure, the female slot structure may be configured to releasably receive the male structure and the support bracket structure may be configured to attach to the passenger seat. The mounting assembly may be configured to provide support to the case when the male structure is in an extended position and the female slot structure has received the male structure.

Personal electronic device mounting assemblies

Described is a passenger seat that includes a seat back with a lower portion disposed adjacent to the seat bottom, and recline mechanism configured to move the passenger seat between an upright position and a reclined position. The recline mechanism may move the passenger seat in two directions. The recline mechanism may include a plurality of corresponding members configured to interface with a plurality of elongate motion members.

Described herein are integrated keyboard tray assemblies including a tray table comprising a top surface of substantially planar construction and a body, wherein the top surface may be disposed above the body when the tray table is in an open position. The integrated keyboard tray assemblies also including a passenger seat, wherein a rear portion of the passenger seat may share a pivotal connection with at least the body of the food tray, and a sensor adjacent the tray table and configured to detect a user interaction at the top surface of the tray table when the tray table is in the open position.
