Administration of aurora kinase inhibitors for anti-malarial therapy

A biomarker is disclosed that can distinguish aggressive epithelial tumors in a tissue biopsy from, for example, normal, hyperplastic, and benign neoplastic tumors. The biomarker can also identify epithelial tumors that have become resistant to hormone therapy. Therefore, methods are disclosed for providing diagnosis and prognosis of a subject having, or suspected of having, an epithelial tumor, such as a prostate tumor.

Methods for diagnosis and prognosis of epithelial tumors

Disclosed herein are combinatorial therapies for treating or preventing reoccurrence of cancer. The therapies involve inhibition of LIMK1 in conjunction with taxane therapy. Specifically exemplified herein is co-administration of a LIMK1 RNA interfering molecule along with administration of a taxane.

Increasing taxane sensitivity in cancer cells

Disclosed herein are therapies for treating or preventing reoccurrence of cancer. The therapies involved inhibition of LIMK1 in conjunction with AurKA inhibition. Specifically exemplified herein is the administration of an AurKA inhibitor in conjunction with a LIMK1 RNA interfering molecule.

Co-targeting of aurora A kinase and LIM kinase 1 for cancer therapy

A method of decreasing the expression of LIM kinase 1 in a cancer cell comprising; providing an oligonucleotide consisting of the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1; providing a cancer cell comprising an mRNA encoding LIM kinase 1; and introducing the oligonucleotide into the cancer cell, wherein the oligonucleotide decreases the expression of LIM kinase 1 in the cancer cell. The method also provides compositions of an antisense RNA LIM kinase 1 that can be administered to an individual for the purpose of inhibiting a protein kinase pathway and which further comprises methods for treating and monitoring the proliferation and metastasis of cancer cells. A kit may be used in the detection and treatment of cancer.
