Methods, apparatus, and computer program products for adding devices to a network via a zero-knowledge protocol are disclosed. One method includes implementing, by a processor, a zero-knowledge protocol configured to establish digital trust relationships between the processor and computing devices attempting to join a network and adding each computing device to the network that successfully establishes a respective digital trust relationship with the processor via the zero-knowledge protocol. Apparatus and computer program products that include hardware and/or software that can perform the methods for adding devices to a network via a zero-knowledge protocol are also disclosed herein.

Systems, apparatus, and methods that can elect a broker on a Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) bus are disclosed. One system includes an MQTT bus and a set of client devices on the MQTT bus. Each client device maintains a set of attributes for each other client device and casts one or more votes for a particular client device on the MQTT bus to elect the particular client device as a new broker on the MQTT bus in response to a current broker on the MQTT bus becoming unavailable. The votes cast for the particular client device are based on a first value corresponding to one or more attributes for the particular client device relative to respective second values to the corresponding attribute(s) for each of the other client devices on the MQTT bus as calculated by each respective client device on the MQTT bus.

Systems, apparatus, and methods for electing a new broker for a channel on an MQTT bus

A system includes a binary tree having leaf hashes. The leaf hashes include a device privacy protected index and a set of zero-knowledge commitments relating to a computer device. The system calculates the device privacy protected index using a verifiable random function such that a device entity path in the binary tree cannot reveal any information about any other device in the binary tree, and associates the set of zero-knowledge commitments with the device privacy protected index. The system then generates a privacy-protected attestation for the computer device using the device privacy protected index and the set of zero-knowledge commitments.

When a user resumes a stopped portable information handling system, the system analyzes activities that occurred at the portable information handling system before the system was stopped. This analyzing includes comparing the activities to theft detection thresholds. If the theft detection thresholds have been reached, the system performs the theft deterrence actions rendering data stored at the portable information handling system inaccessible.

APS automatically parks a read/write head and locks the platters in a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) in a notebook computer in response to a physical shock, such as when the computer is dropped from the user's lap or during intense vibration caused by air turbulence during a passenger flight. Rather than permanently disabling the APS off, the present invention permits a convenient method and system for temporarily suspending the operations of the APS, thus allowing the user to still access the HDD in conditions in which motion occurs yet physical shock is not necessarily imminent.
