The present disclosure relates to a method performed in a Multipath Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP) scheduler which is scheduling a TCP flow between a first peer and an MPTCP capable second peer. The method comprises setting up the TCP flow comprising at least two sub-flows connecting the MPTCP capable second peer, each sub-flow being associated with an address for the MPTCP capable second peer. The method also comprises receiving external information relating to at least one of the at least two sub-flows. The method also comprises scheduling data in the TCP flow based on the received external information, wherein the scheduling comprises choosing which sub-flow or sub-flows of the at least two sub-flows to schedule the data via, based on the received external information. The present disclosure also relates to an MPTCP scheduler as well as an MPTCP proxy and an MPTCP capable peer comprising such a scheduler.

MPTCP scheduling

A method and apparatus for addressing a message sent from a proxy node to a peer node in a communications network. The proxy node receives from a host node a plurality of multipath messages. Each message of the plurality of multipath messages has an address. The proxy node then applies a rule to assign an address for a single flow message towards the peer node. The single flow message comprises each message of the plurality of multipath messages. The single flow message is then sent towards the peer node.

Assigning addresses in a communications network

The invention relates to a method for relocating a first function for processing data packets of a flow associated with a device, from a source to a target instance. The method is triggered by an initiated relocation of a second function for processing data packets of the flow. The method comprises initiating () a first phase of a relocation method for relocating the first function, before the relocation of the second function is finalized. The method also comprises determining () whether to initiate a second phase of the relocation method based on information related to a progress of the relocation of the second function. When it is determined () to initiate the second phase, the method further comprises initiating () the second phase of the relocation method comprising the resumption of the processing of the data packets of the flow at the target instance of the first function.

Methods and apparatus for relocating packet processing functions

The invention relates to a method in an arrangement of a communication network, controlling a function for processing data packets of a flow associated with a device. The method comprises determining () to relocate the function for processing the data packets from a source instance to a target instance for the device, controlling () transmission of an instruction to the source instance to relocate the function for processing the data packets to the target instance, and controlling () an update of a switching element in a chain of functions for processing the data packets of the flow comprising said function. The switching element affects the routing of the data packets of the flow in the chain. The switching element is updated with information related to the relocated function. The invention also relates to a method performed by the source instance and to the arrangement and the source instance.

Method and arrangement for relocating packet processing functions

The invention relates to a method in an arrangement of a communication network, controlling a chain of functions for processing data packets of a flow associated with a device. The method comprises obtaining () an indication indicating that information associated with a context of at least one of the functions has been altered. The context is related to the flow and at least one of the communication network, the device, a route of the flow, and a source instance of each of the at least one function. The method further comprises determining () to relocate the at least one function for processing the data packets from the respective source instance to a respective target instance based on the obtained indication. The method also comprises relocating () the at least one function for processing the data packets to the respective target instance.
