Enhanced shared memory based communication driver for improved performance and scalability is described. An example method includes creating a shared memory segment for a database server instance. The database server instance and a client reside on a same computing device. A first database connection is established to the database server instance using a pre-configured communication end point. An identifier of the shared memory segment for the database server instance is sent to the database server instance and the database server instance listens to subsequent connection requests generated on the shared memory segment. Moreover, a second database connection to the database server instance is established using the shared memory segment as a communication end point. Upon a successful connection of the second database connection, the first database connection is closed.

Enhanced shared memory based communication driver for improved performance and scalability

A system includes one or more storage devices and virtualization software configured to aggregate storage in the one or more storage devices into a virtual storage device accessible to a storage consumer. The virtualization software may include a group validation layer comprising a device-independent interface configured to validate a proposed group configuration operation on the one or more storage devices. The device-independent interface may be used to verify that the proposed configuration operation would, if completed, result in a configuration capable of supporting a desired virtualization functionality. The device-independent interface may allow an application to manage the one or more devices as a unit known as a virtual device group.

System and method for enforcing device grouping rules for storage virtualization

A method, system, and computer program product to enable other nodes in a cluster to resume operations of a failed node. These operations include storage management services that allow configuration changes to be made dynamically to storage resources. Resource configuration data are synchronized on a set of nodes in a cluster immediately when a resource configuration change is made. If a node that has made a resource configuration change fails, the resource configuration change is available for use by other nodes in the set, each of which can resume operations of the failed node.
