A disposable absorbent product extends along a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The product has a topsheet, and a backsheet overlaying the topsheet, with the topsheet and backsheet jointly defining first and second side edges of the product on respective sides of the longitudinal axis. An absorbent core is disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet for storing fluid secreted by the wearer of the product. The absorbent core has first and second lateral edges respectively inboard of the first and second side edges of the product so as to define respective first and second lateral portions of the product that are free of the absorbent core. The product also has a plurality of folds parallel to the transverse axis, and a plurality of bonds in at least one of the first or second lateral portions that secure the plurality of folds in place.

A disposable absorbent product extends along a longitudinal axis between front and back longitudinal ends of the product, and along a transverse axis. The product has a topsheet defining an interior face of the product configured to face a wearer thereof during use, and a backsheet overlaying the topsheet, the backsheet defining an exterior face of the product. An absorbent core is disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet for storing fluid secreted by the wearer of the product. The product also includes a first pair of fastening components, each being formed from a partially cut-out portion of the disposable absorbent product so as to be pivotally coupled to a remainder of the product, such that pivotal movement of the fastening components relative to a remainder of the product defines at least one aperture that extends between the interior and exterior faces of the product.

A disposable absorbent product includes a backsheet, a topsheet overlaying the backsheet, and a core disposed between the backsheet and topsheet for retaining fluid secreted by a wearer of the absorbent product. The core has a length dimension, a width dimension, and a thickness dimension orthogonal to the length and width dimensions. The core includes first and second fluid storage structures, with the first fluid storage structure at least partially surrounding the second fluid storage structure in the thickness dimension. The second fluid storage structure extends along a longitudinal axis and has a head portion, as well as a pair of leg portions, with the leg portions being longitudinally opposed the head portion. Each of the leg portions extends along a minor axis that defines, with the longitudinal axis, an acute included angle.

An absorbent article includes an a pair of leakage protection walls including a standing gather. The leakage protection walls are affixed to the backsheet or an outer layer of the article. Each standing gather is configured to be folded over side edges of the absorbent article so that each standing gather extends towards a user causing portions of the first and second end regions of the absorbent article to curve inwardly. In addition, the inverse standing gathers force laterally extending sides of the article to stand erect, thereby creating a double sealing effect. Attaching the leakage protection wall to the backsheet or outer layer of the article increases the inlet area, while also improving leakage.

An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, includes a top sheet and a back sheet with a resilient, composite absorbent core sandwiched therebetween. To decrease the stiffness, the absorbent core includes an outer line and an inner line on each side of a longitudinal centerline. The outer line includes a plurality of slits having spaces therebetween, and the outer line extends convexly when viewed from the longitudinal centerline. The plurality of slits in the absorbent core impart better bending ability of the absorbent article, particular for stiff airlaid absorbent cores.
